Richard Gere’s Wife Reveals Rare Photo of Him with Their Sons
Richard Gere, the iconic actor known for his roles in “Pretty Woman” and “Runaway Bride,” was celebrated in a heartfelt way this Father’s Day. On June 16, Gere’s wife, Alejandra Silva, shared a touching tribute to the 74-year-old actor, accompanied by a rare photo of him with their sons. The image featured their 5-year-old son Alexander, their 3-year-old son whose name remains private, and Albert, Silva’s 9-year-old son from a previous relationship.
Gere, who is notoriously private about his family life, had the faces of his children blurred in the photos shared by Silva. The caption read, “Happy Father’s Day, to the most wonderful dad four boys could ever wish for.” Silva, 41, expressed her admiration for Gere’s patience, love, and dedication in her message.
In the first photo, Gere is seen carrying one of his sons on his shoulders while Silva and the other two boys stand beside him in the sea. Another image shows Gere standing next to Silva and Albert, who proudly holds up a school certificate. The final slide captures a joyful moment of Gere hugging one of his children, with a milkshake on the table.
Silva continued her tribute with, “Happy Father’s Day to the man who is always there for us, making every moment special. Love, Mom, James, Alexander, Albert, Homer ♥️♥️ #happyfathersday.” She also shared another photo on her Instagram Stories, featuring the family at the beach with a “Happy Father’s Day” sticker.
This public display of affection comes after Gere attended the afterparty of his film “Oh, Canada” at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival with Silva and his son Homer in May. The family looked elegant, with Gere and Homer in matching tuxedos and Silva in a black floral-embroidered gown. Silva shared a photo from the event, captioning it, “Proud of him ♥️ #ohcanada #cannesfilmfestival #richardgere.”
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair Spain, Gere opened up about moving his family to Spain, Silva’s native country. He shared that their family life is quite private, with three small children keeping them busy. “The truth is we don’t go out much. We have three small children. An 11-year-old, a 5-year-old, and a 4-year-old,” Gere said. “So around 9:30 at night, we are all asleep. If we watch something, it will be on the big television we have at home.”
Gere also mentioned that he doesn’t attend premieres or watch his own films, and his older son Homer, 24, hasn’t seen many of his movies. “He doesn’t understand it,” Gere said about his son’s perception of his fame. “And it is also very difficult for him to see me on the screen because even if I play an extreme character, I am still his father and it is difficult for him to get into the story.”
Interestingly, Homer has recently developed an interest in acting, writing, and directing little movies, creating a new bond between father and son. Gere shares Homer with his ex-wife Carey Lowell.
On Mother’s Day last year, Silva shared a sweet photo of Gere with their three kids on Instagram. The family was seen playing in the sand, enjoying a special trip organized for their anniversary and Mother’s Day. Silva expressed her gratitude in the caption, thanking her husband for the best Mother’s Day ever.
Silva also gave a shoutout to her stepson Homer in a post, emphasizing the importance of enjoying nature and instilling those values in her family. “Back to basics. This one goes out to our beloved Homer Gere,” she wrote.
Richard Gere’s family life, though kept mostly private, is filled with love and special moments, as evidenced by Silva’s heartfelt tributes and rare glimpses into their lives.
