Scarlett Johansson Jokes About Prenup Making Colin Jost Cameo in Her Latest Movie

Scarlett Johansson recently shared a humorous anecdote about her husband, Colin Jost, and his cameo in her latest film, “Fly Me to the Moon.” During her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Johansson joked that Jost’s appearance in the movie was less of a request and more of a contractual obligation due to their prenuptial agreement.

Johansson explained that the film’s director, Greg Berlanti, is a huge fan of Jost. She quipped, “Colin, I think he had to do it because it’s, like, in our prenuptial agreement. If I ask him to do something, he has to be there to support me. He has to be in every one of my films.” Fallon laughed as Johansson added, “He has to be in every one of my films.”

Johansson and Jost, who were first linked in May 2017, have been married since October 2020. They welcomed their first child together, son Cosmo, in the summer of 2021. Johansson also has a daughter, Rose Dorothy, 9, from her previous marriage to Romain Dauriac.

The actress went on to reveal another perk of being married to a fellow performer: having a partner to run lines with. However, enlisting Jost to help her learn lines doesn’t always go as planned. “I run lines with him, which is great,” she told Fallon. “You’d think that would be very convenient because you have a partner there to help you out. You learn your lines for tomorrow or whatever.”

The issue, according to Johansson, is that Jost takes the task very seriously. “He does, like, real serious… He really commits to the line reading,” she said. “And it’s not always the performance I want it to be.” Fallon pointed out, “Yeah, you don’t want any performance. Just read the lines, you’re not going for the Oscar here.” Johansson agreed, saying, “I’m just like, ‘Say the lines!’ Exactly!” Instead, Jost offers “big dramatic pauses” and “gets really into it,” to which Johansson responds, “‘I can’t focus. Forget it. I’ll just learn them myself.'”

Despite the jokes about Jost’s line reading skills, Johansson praised her husband’s performance in their upcoming movie. “He’s great. He’s so funny and off-the-cuff and charming and great,” she said.

“Fly Me to the Moon” is set to arrive in theaters on July 12. The film stars Johansson alongside Channing Tatum in a romantic comedy set against the backdrop of the 1969 moon landing. Tatum plays a NASA official working on the Apollo 11 moon landing, while Johansson’s character is a marketing executive brought on to film a fake version of the landing as a backup in case things go wrong.

While Johansson is busy promoting “Fly Me to the Moon,” Jost is preparing to travel to Tahiti to cover the surfing competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics for NBC. During a Monday appearance on the Today show, Johansson joked about her husband’s new gig. “I’m like, how did he get this gig? Is this a job?” she said to Savannah Guthrie.

Johansson continued, “When they announced the Paris Olympics, he immediately found out that the surf competition is in Tahiti, which is so cool. He loves to surf, we have a place in Montauk, he’s always out there surfing. Somehow the dream became a reality, and now he’s going to be in Tahiti for two weeks. I’m like, ‘Poor you.'”

She quipped, “I think if you can have a piña colada on air while you’re working, it’s not technically work.”

Johansson and Jost attended the premiere of “Fly Me to the Moon” on July 8 in New York City. The actress took inspiration from the ’60s for her look, wearing a gingham two-piece consisting of a crop top and a straight-lined long skirt for the occasion.

The couple met in 2017 when Johansson hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live. Jost has worked on the sketch comedy show since 2005. They got married in 2020 and welcomed their son, Cosmo, the following year. Johansson also has a 9-year-old daughter, Rose, from her previous marriage to French journalist Romain Dauriac.

As Johansson continues to promote her new film, it’s clear that her relationship with Jost is filled with humor and mutual support. Whether it’s through contractual obligations or simply running lines together, the couple seems to have found a way to blend their personal and professional lives seamlessly.
