"I thought, ‘How did I get involved in this?’" she stated. She expressed her frustration and noted that she felt it clashed with her core values. Johansson emphasized her desire to protect her privacy, sharing her reluctance to discuss the matter with anyone aside from her husband. Johansson acknowledged that different countries have various laws and regulations regarding such technologies. She expressed concern about scenarios, such as an ex-partner sharing revenge porn or deepfakes, which could lead to devastating consequences for individuals. "I believe technology is advancing faster than our fragile human egos can handle, and the effects are being felt everywhere, especially among the youth," she added. "This technology is coming in like a tidal wave."
Previously, Scarlett had expressed her shock and anger regarding the choice of voice for Sky. However, Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, clarified that they utilized an actor to create the voice for Sky and did not intentionally mimic the actress’s voice. In a statement to The Verge, Altman explained, "The voice of Sky is not Scarlett Johansson’s, and we never intended for it to sound like hers. We chose the voice actor for Sky before reaching out to Johansson. Out of respect for Ms. Johansson, we have stopped using Sky’s voice in our products. We apologize to Ms. Johansson for not communicating better."
