Shania Twain feels "honored" to be selected as the host for the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards. The 58-year-old singer, known for hits like "That Don’t Impress Me Much," previously performed at the prestigious Legends spot during this year’s Glastonbury Festival. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville on September 26.
In a statement, Shania expressed her excitement, saying, "Country music has some of the most passionate fans, and as artists, we are truly lucky to receive such unwavering support for what we love to do. I feel honored to host an awards show that celebrates these incredible fans. Get ready for an unforgettable event filled with hair, glamour, rhinestones, hats, boots, and amazing performances."
Last year marked the inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards, where Shania received three nominations. These included Crossover Song of 2023 for "UNHEALTHY," a collaboration with Anne-Marie, as well as Tour of the Year for her "Queen of Me Tour" and Social Media Star in the country category.
Jen Neal, the Vice President of Live Events and Specials at NBCUniversal Entertainment, spoke about Shania taking on the hosting role. "With a proven track record of creating timeless music, Shania is a beloved member of the country community. As we return to the Grand Ole Opry House, she’s the perfect person to help us celebrate the best in country music."
Before the awards ceremony, Shania will return to the stage with three performances at the Churchill Park Music Festival in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, from August 16 to 18. She will also resume her performances at the Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas from August 23 to December 14 as part of her residency, "Come on Over: The Las Vegas Residency – All the Hits."
