Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is moving forward with her legal decision to drop her father’s last name. Almost two months after the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt filed the legal paperwork on May 27, the day she turned 18, she has reached the next step in the process: publishing a notice in a newspaper.
The news was recently reported in the Los Angeles Times, stating that Shiloh has applied to change her name to Shiloh Jolie. According to California law, before a judge can approve a name change request, the applicant must publish the legal forms in a newspaper for a month.
Shiloh’s decision to change her name comes shortly after her sister, 15-year-old Vivienne, also stopped using the last name Pitt. This change occurred when Vivienne was credited in the program for the Broadway play “The Outsiders,” where she worked behind the scenes alongside their mother.
It is believed that the children of the former couple have a strained relationship with their father, known for his role in "Fight Club," since the parents’ separation in 2016. While Vivienne is exploring opportunities in theater, Shiloh seems to be pursuing a career in dance.
A video of Shiloh dancing recently went viral after being shared by choreographer Lil Kelaan Carter. According to sources, Shiloh is described as “dedicated” and “hardworking” in her pursuits. An insider told Entertainment Tonight that Shiloh is an exceptionally talented dancer who exhibits dedication and effort, stating, “She doesn’t rely on her famous name to achieve her goals.”
The source emphasized that Shiloh would “never use” her mother’s or father’s celebrity status to further her own career, even if it might be difficult for people to believe.
