Simone Biles Feels Confident About Her Return to the Olympics

Simone Biles feels “confident” about her return to the Olympics.

The 27-year-old gymnast has already earned an impressive 37 medals in both Olympic and world competitions. Though she hasn’t competed since 2021, she hopes to prove to herself that she can achieve success when she makes her comeback at the Paris Games later this month.

In an interview with the ‘Today’ show, she shared her experience of returning to gymnastics. “It took me a while because I would watch gymnastics on TV, and every time someone did a twist, I thought, ‘Oh my gosh.’ Then one day I woke up and decided to give it another shot. People encouraged me to get back in the gym and regain my skills. So, we collectively decided that I would really go for it. The only person I need to prove anything to is myself. I want to show that I can get back out there and do it again. I believe we will do a great job. I feel very confident.”

Simone previously revealed that she withdrew from the team final and the all-around final at the Tokyo Olympics to focus on her mental health.

This time, her team will include fellow gymnasts Suni Lee, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, and 16-year-old Hezly Rivera, who recently won a junior world silver medal.

Outside of her athletic career, Simone is married to 28-year-old football player Jonathan Owens. She recently mentioned that they serve as a constant source of support for one another, both in their professional lives and beyond.

In an interview with Elle magazine, Simone said, “We love the time we spend together, but we always support each other, inside and outside the field!”
