Taylor Swift has opened up her personal archive for an exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The 34-year-old pop superstar is lending a collection of commemorative items from her music career for display as part of “Taylor Swift: Songbook Trail,” which will showcase her musical evolution.
Kate Bailey, the museum’s head curator for theater and performance, expressed excitement about the exhibition. She stated, “We’re thrilled to exhibit a series of iconic looks from Taylor Swift this summer at the V&A, each celebrating a chapter in the artist’s musical journey. Taylor Swift’s songs, much like these items, tell stories often rooted in art, history, and literature. We hope this theatrical journey through the museum will inspire visitors to explore more about the artist, her creativity, and the V&A objects.”
Among the items on display are the black dress Taylor wore in the music video for her song “Fortnight” and a pair of custom cowboy boots she wore during a tour with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill in 2007. Many of these items will be shown to the public for the first time.
The free exhibition is set to open at the South Kensington museum on July 27 and will run until September 8, 2024.
Currently, Taylor is on her worldwide tour, “The Eras Tour.” She recently performed in Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff, and London, with plans to return to the British capital for five additional shows at Wembley Stadium.
Over the weekend, the tour made its way to Ireland, where Taylor experienced a technical malfunction that left her stranded on an elevated platform during her performance at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
A video shared online captured the moment when she became stuck after the platform on which she was standing failed to retract toward the stage while she was singing “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.” Fortunately, one of her dancers, Jan Ravnik, was on another platform that lowered successfully. He quickly crossed the stage and assisted Taylor in getting down, allowing her to continue her choreography and finish the song as planned.
