One of the memorable moments was shared by comedian and journalist Mariana Echeverría, who recounted a particularly awkward incident involving the renowned singer Juan Gabriel.
Juan Gabriel is a beloved figure in Mexican music, and his fans often emphasize the need for respect when discussing him. However, Echeverría, known for her role on Me Caigo de Risa and her current participation in La Casa de los Famosos, didn’t seem to grasp that sentiment.
During her time on the reality show, she reflected on a day at a Juan Gabriel concert, where she blurted out an insult in a moment of irreverence. She described how she impulsively stood up and shouted "maricón," leaving the audience in stunned silence. “It was the first word that popped into my head. I just stood up and yelled it. It’s on YouTube, during the Inocente Pobre Amiga segment at the Acapulco Festival. I shouted and everyone stared at me, even the mariachi band behind Juan Gabriel looked like they wanted to kill me,” Echeverría shared.
After recounting the story, many viewers criticized Echeverría for laughing about it as if it were a proud moment. Comments such as “Why did she shout that? And she still talks about it like it was some great achievement!” have circulated among people watching the show.
However, the full context of this moment becomes clearer when watching the complete video of the performance. In the middle of a heartfelt song, Juan Gabriel pauses and asks for assistance from a woman in the crowd. At that moment, Echeverría, seated in the front rows, stands up and yells "maricón." Juan Gabriel pauses in surprise, responding, “No, not that one.”
