Thirteen Survivors of the ‘Argos Georgia’ Shipwreck Arrive in Stanley Port

Thirteen of the fourteen survivors from the wreck of the ‘Argos Georgia’ have arrived at Stanley port in the Falkland Islands around 9:00 PM on Wednesday. The remaining survivor is still aboard the British-flagged fishing vessel Robin M. Lee.

According to the Galician Government Delegation, the thirteen survivors were brought in on the patrol boat Lilibet and immediately transferred to a hospital for medical care.

The Delegation noted that the government is working to send a plane to repatriate the survivors and the deceased back to Spain as soon as possible.

A total of nine crew members lost their lives in the shipwreck, which involved a crew of 27, including two from Vigo and Baiona. Additionally, four crew members remain missing, with two of them identified as being from Ribeira and Noia.

There are now 14 survivors, four of whom are Galicians. Thirteen of these survivors arrived this afternoon at Puerto Stanley on the ‘FPV Lilibet’ to receive care at the Memorial Hospital of King Edward VII.

Another crew member was rescued alive by the Robin M. Lee, which continues search operations. The Falkland Islands government stated that it will return to Stanley at the appropriate time.

The fishing vessels Robin M. Lee and the Chilean Puerto Toro are expected to arrive on Thursday, the 25th, at 5:00 PM (Spanish time).
