Tori Spelling is grateful for the last conversation she had with Shannen Doherty. The “Beverly Hills, 90210” actress passed away on July 13 at the age of 53 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Tori expressed her relief in not carrying the same regrets she has with other people she has lost.
In a recent episode of the “90210MG” podcast titled “Remembering Shannen Doherty,” Tori shared her thoughts. “I’ve gone through many deaths in my life, and I don’t believe in regrets. But I regret not having more time to reconnect and address things from the past, to see all the good, to really talk, and to have that final conversation. I feel like she and I had that, and I’m super grateful for it,” she said.
However, Tori admitted that she is “not okay” following the loss of her friend and initially didn’t want to record the podcast. She explained, “Honestly, as you all know, I didn’t want to do this. I felt emotionally unprepared. I know many people are sharing tributes to her memory, but I wanted to do this for the fans. So this episode is for them, not for us.”
The 51-year-old actress believed that Shannen was the one who could overcome her illness. She reflected, “I just had that belief that she fought so hard and was such a warrior. Throughout her life and career, she showed that she could overcome anything. So even though we know how evil the answer is and that it takes everyone we love, I just didn’t know. I suppose it made me believe she was the only one who would succeed, and I was so hopeful.”
Tori had previously shared a brief message on social media regarding the pain of losing her friend. Alongside an old photo of them together, she wrote on Instagram: “I still have no words, but WE knew, and that’s what matters.”
Shannen Doherty underwent surgery late last year to remove a brain tumor she affectionately named “Bob.” She stated at the time that she was working tirelessly to regain her motor skills. During an episode of her podcast “Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty,” she detailed her struggle to reclaim her health, insisting until November 2023 that she “was not finished” living.
She said, “I have not finished living. I have not finished loving. I have not finished creating. I have not finished hoping to change things for the better. I am not finished.”
