Tragedy in Córdoba: Man crushed by truck he was repairing himself

A tragic workplace accident claimed the life of a 36-year-old man in Río Cuarto, Córdoba, on Monday afternoon. According to police reports, the incident occurred around 4:30 PM at a bodywork factory located in the city’s South Industrial Park, near National Route 8.

The worker was performing repairs on a truck which was lifted by a hydraulic jack when it suddenly collapsed, resulting in his fatal injury. Authorities indicated that the victim was trapped under the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The Judicial Police have since conducted investigations to clarify the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident, following guidelines issued by the Río Cuarto Second Turn Prosecutor’s Office.

In another heartbreaking case, in late April this year, a 23-year-old woman from Córdoba tragically died after falling from a tractor her father was driving. The accident took place in the rural area of Ausonia, about 30 kilometers from Villa María. The victim, identified as Fiamma Basso, was riding with her father while they were engaged in agricultural work. According to her father’s account, she lost her balance, fell off the tractor, and was instantly crushed by one of its wheels.

Local sources reported that the father, aged 48, was the one who alerted the police about the incident. In addition to the local police, volunteer firefighters and a municipal service unit responded to the scene. It was initially established that Fiamma had been riding on the tractor when she fell, tragically ending up beneath the wheel.

Investigators from the Scientific Police gathered evidence from the scene, and the Villa María Prosecutor’s Office ordered the woman’s body to be sent to the coroner’s office to accurately determine the cause of death. The tractor was also confiscated for further examination.

Fiamma was a kindergarten teacher who worked at a daycare center and served as a secretary in a health facility. Living in Ucacha, she would visit her father on weekends to help out on the farm in Ausonia and enjoyed dancing folkloric styles.

A friend paid tribute to her on Facebook, expressing deep sorrow at her passing: “You leave behind a tremendous amount of pain for everyone who knew you. You were beautiful, cheerful, and so full of life. Those who were fortunate enough to know you mourn your unexpected departure. God called you to His kingdom because He surely needed an angel by His side.”

The last post from Fiamma was on October 25, 2022, where she reflected on a three-month internship at the San Martín Kindergarten in Ucacha. She expressed her gratitude and joy, stating, “I leave with a heart overflowing with happiness and gratitude.”

Fiamma’s funeral was conducted in Ucacha, eliciting a profound outpouring of grief from her community and loved ones.
