Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian have once again captured the public’s attention with their latest creative endeavor. The Blink-182 drummer, 48, and his wife, Kourtney Kardashian Barker, 45, recently channeled the iconic characters from the 1994 film “Forrest Gump” to announce Barker’s new health initiative, “Run Travis Run.”

On Tuesday, June 18, the couple shared a playful video on their Instagram Stories, where Barker recreated the famous running scene from “Forrest Gump.” Donning a red cap similar to the one worn by Tom Hanks in the film, Barker ran while Kourtney cheered him on from the sidelines, exclaiming, “Run Travis, run!” This line is a nod to the memorable “Run Forrest, run!” from the movie.

The video quickly garnered attention, with fans commenting on Kourtney’s attempt at a southern drawl and referencing the film’s characters. One user even wrote, “Jenny!” in a nod to Forrest’s childhood friend and later wife, played by Robin Wright.

Barker’s new project, “Run Travis Run,” is a “run and wellness experience” aimed at promoting physical activity and healthy living. On the project’s website, Barker shared a heartfelt message about how running helped him recover from a traumatic 2008 plane crash. The crash claimed the lives of four people and left Barker with third-degree burns on more than half of his body.

“After my accident in 2008, more than 70% of my body was burnt, and I was told by doctors that I may never be able to walk or play drums the same again,” Barker wrote. “I was never athletic and I never played sports, but I immediately had this urge to prove everyone wrong, including myself.”

Barker explained that he started with short walks, which eventually turned into daily runs. He described the sense of calmness and rush of dopamine he felt every time he ran. Over the years, running became an integral part of his daily routine, even before his shows while on tour.

“This past year, I ran my first half marathon and participated in a few 5k’s,” Barker continued. “I loved how everyone from all walks of life ran together and supported one another. The running community is massive, and it really inspired me to create ‘Run Travis Run’ as a way to bring like-minded people together. I want to motivate people to get outside and walk or run for a few hours, as well as make healthy decisions and create healthy habits.”

Kourtney reshared Barker’s message on her Instagram Stories, expressing her admiration for her husband. “You are so inspiring,” she wrote, adding a red heart emoji.

Barker also took to Instagram to invite his followers to join him in his new venture. “I just felt like running… come run with me!!!” he wrote, providing details about the first two events in Los Angeles on July 6 and in Queens, New York, on July 21.

In a 2017 interview with Runner’s World, Barker credited running for helping him in all aspects of his life. “I just love running. It makes me feel like I can conquer anything that comes at me,” he said. “I’m never tapped out.”

The couple’s playful homage to “Forrest Gump” is just one of the many ways they have shared their journey with fans. Recently, they also celebrated Father’s Day with their son Rocky, with Kourtney expressing her joy in having a family with Barker.

Kourtney, who has three children from her previous relationship with Scott Disick, is expecting her first child with Barker. The couple announced the pregnancy in June and later revealed they are expecting a boy.

Barker, who has three children from his previous marriage to Shanna Moakler, has been open about his excitement for the new addition to their family. The couple has been sharing numerous photos of Kourtney’s growing baby bump, with Barker often quoting lines from “Forrest Gump” to capture the moments.

In one Instagram post, Barker shared a series of photos, including a sweet image of him kissing Kourtney’s baby bump. He captioned the post with the iconic line from “Forrest Gump,” “Life is like a box of chocolates,” adding a deeper meaning to the various images.

The couple’s playful and heartfelt approach to their announcements has resonated with fans, who eagerly await the arrival of their baby boy. As they continue to share their journey, it’s clear that Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian are not only excited about their growing family but also committed to inspiring others to lead healthier lives through “Run Travis Run.”
