Travis Kelce Reveals What Made Him Fall for Taylor Swift
Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs’ star tight end, has opened up about his relationship with pop sensation Taylor Swift, revealing the qualities that made him fall for her. The couple, who have been dating for nearly a year, have become one of the most high-profile pairs in the world, drawing attention from fans and media alike.
Kelce first publicly confirmed their relationship when Swift attended one of his NFL games at Arrowhead Stadium last September. Since then, the couple has been seen enjoying various trips, nights out, and supporting each other in their respective careers. Just last weekend, Kelce was in London for Swift’s sold-out Eras Tour concert at Wembley Stadium, even joining her on stage during the show.
During an appearance on the “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast, Kelce shared what it’s like dating one of the most famous singers on the planet. He expressed pride in calling Swift his “lady” and emphasized that he is not trying to hide their relationship. “You want to keep things private, but at the same time, like, I’m not here to hide anything. That’s my girl, you know what I mean? That’s my lady, so it’s like… I’m proud of that,” Kelce said.
Kelce admitted that the increased spotlight from dating Swift was a major shock, even for someone as accomplished as him. However, he revealed that Swift’s ability to stay grounded despite her superstar status is what truly made him fall for her. “She’s very self-aware, but at the same time… she’s very self-aware. She understands situations like that and I think that’s why I really started to fall for her, how genuine she is just around friends and family,” he explained.
The NFL star also praised Swift for her chill and cool demeanor, even in the face of immense attention. “It can get crazy for somebody with that much attention and she keeps it so chill and so cool and I can admire it for sure,” Kelce added.
One of the most surprising aspects of dating Swift, according to Kelce, has been dealing with the paparazzi. “Paparazzi has been the craziest thing. Definitely the pulling up to the house, the just random, I don’t know… It’s a different demographic than the NFL, so it’s been cool to dabble in that and see her following and everything,” he said. Despite the challenges, Kelce has enjoyed the crossover of fans between the NFL and Swift’s music, noting that many of her fans have become Chiefs fans and vice versa.
Kelce also shared a memorable moment from their relationship when Swift attended one of his games. “The first game she came to against the Bears, I was like, ‘I can probably set you up with everything,’ and she just walked right through the front door. There’s no like going down, talking to security, making sure she [gets to her seats]. She was like, ‘I just want to be around the family and friends and experience this with everybody.’ I was just like, ‘She got points for that.’ She’s in the madness. She wants to be a part of it. She wants to support me and do things like that. She really won me over with that,” Kelce recounted.
Kelce acknowledged the challenges of maintaining privacy in their relationship, given Swift’s immense fame. “When you’re at home, you want privacy, and you don’t always get that,” he said. However, he remains committed to navigating the scrutiny and media attention that comes with dating Swift.
In an interview with WSJ. Magazine, Kelce shared how the couple initially got in touch after he failed to meet her at her Kansas City Eras Tour show. “There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was, in her corner [who said]: ‘Yo! Did you know he was coming?’ I had somebody playing Cupid,” he revealed. Swift later reached out to him via text, and the two eventually had their first date on the East Coast.
Kelce admitted that the media attention and pressure from those around him have been significant. “Everybody around me telling me: Don’t f–k this up! And me sitting here saying: Yeah — got it,” he said. Despite the challenges, Kelce is enjoying this new chapter with Swift and is adjusting to a new level of fame.
Kelce praised Swift for her intelligence and humor, noting that they share important values, particularly when it comes to family. “Everybody knows I’m a family guy,” he said. “Her team is her family. Her family does a lot of stuff in terms of the tour, the marketing, being around, so I think she has a lot of those values as well, which is right up my alley.”
As their relationship continues to grow, Kelce is taking notes from Swift and learning from her every day. “I’ve never been a man of words,” he admitted. “Being around her, seeing how smart Taylor is, has been f–king mind-blowing. I’m learning every day.”
