TRNSMT 2024 Lineup Headliners and TV Schedule for This Weekend in Glasgow
Scotland’s largest music festival, TRNSMT, is set to take over Glasgow this weekend. Running from July 12-14 at Glasgow Green, this marks the seventh outing of the festival since its inception in 2017. Headlining the event are Liam Gallagher, Gerry Cinnamon, and Calvin Harris, with a diverse lineup of other acts including Garbage, Sugababes, Example, Courteeners, Rick Astley, The Vaccines, Chase & Status, and Tom Grennan.
For those unable to attend in person, the festival will be broadcast on BBC television, radio, iPlayer, and BBC Sounds. Here’s everything you need to know to enjoy TRNSMT 2024.
Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher will take the main stage on Friday night. This will be his third time headlining TRNSMT, having previously done so in 2018 and 2021. Gallagher promises to play Oasis’ debut album “Definitely Maybe” in its entirety, along with other classics from his old band and his solo career.
On Saturday night, Castlemilk’s own Gerry Cinnamon will headline, followed by Calvin Harris closing the weekend on Sunday night. Both are familiar with massive gigs, having headlined shows at Hampden Park in the past. Cinnamon, armed with his guitar and loop pedals, will perform material from his two mega-selling albums, while fans eagerly await any new material. Harris, a relentless hitmaker, recently topped the charts with his Ellie Goulding collaboration “Miracle.”
The rest of the lineup is equally impressive. Soul singer Jalen Ngonda will open the main stage on Friday, followed by Garbage, The Snuts, and The Last Dinner Party. Pop icons Sugababes are also set to perform, with their recent Glastonbury set drawing massive crowds. Lesser-known names include post-punk singer Heartworms and songstress Nieve Ella.
Saturday’s lineup features the Courteeners, Rick Astley, Natasha Bedingfield, and the Mary Wallopers. Astley, enjoying a career renaissance, is sure to spark a massive sing-along with “Never Gonna Give You Up.” Sunday brings drum n’ bass duo Chase N Status, Alison Goldfrapp, rising Irish singer CMAT, and alt-pop songstress Rachel Chinouriri.
TRNSMT features three stages: the Main Stage, King Tut’s Stage, and the River Stage. The Main Stage hosts the big hitters, King Tut’s brings a mix of established and emerging talent, and the River Stage focuses on new and emerging talent, mostly Scottish. There’s also the Boogie Bar, with various DJs performing all weekend.
The festival has a West Entrance via Saltmarket and an East entrance off Templeton Street. Gates open at noon each day, with the last entry at 21:30 and a curfew at 23:00.
Weather-wise, BBC Weather presenter Christopher Blanchett forecasts mostly cloudy skies with occasional showers and light rain on Sunday. Friday will see early sunny spells with variable cloud, generally dry with light winds and highs of 19C. Saturday will be cloudy with late afternoon showers, light winds, and highs of 17C. Sunday will be cloudy with a chance of showers or light rain, drying up by evening with highs of 18C.
Scottish broadcaster Shereen Cutkelvin will present BBC Scotland’s coverage of TRNSMT, taking over from Edith Bowman. Coverage runs on BBC Scotland from 22:00 on Friday and Saturday and 21:00 on Sunday, with highlights also airing on BBC One throughout the weekend.
TRNSMT started in 2017, filling the gap left by T In The Park, which ended after a controversial 2016 event. Unlike T In The Park, TRNSMT is centered in a major city, with the first year headlined by Radiohead, Kasabian, and Biffy Clyro. However, the festival has faced criticism for a lack of female acts, having never booked a female headliner in its eight-year history.
For the full lineup and set times, visit the official TRNSMT website or download the TRNSMT app for iOS or Android. Remaining tickets are on sale via trnsmtfest.com, although Saturday has officially sold out.
