After your first visit to Meyer’s Market, you’ll discover the Unfinished Expedition side quest on the Once Human map. This quest is an intriguing journey that requires players to gather Rosetta’s research documents and ultimately decide whether to hand them over to Maxie or Claire.
To kick off the Unfinished Expedition, you need to collect the Expedition Notes from the top of the lighthouse located southeast of Meyer’s Market. The exact coordinates for this starting point are 6598, -6955. Once you reach the lighthouse, you’ll find Denise Cooper’s Journal, which reveals that the Union Explorer initiated an expedition to Wild Dog Isle to uncover Rosetta’s secrets. Unfortunately, her boat failed, and she had to abandon it, urging you to continue her work.
Your next destination is Wild Dog Isle, which is a short swim from the lighthouse. Here, you will need to locate three sets of Rosetta’s research documents: the Environmental Security Records, Medical Records, and Army Records. The first document can be found on a derelict ship northeast of the lighthouse at coordinates 6677, -7247. If you time your jump correctly, you can glide from the lighthouse directly onto the ship.
Once you have the Environmental Security Records, head east towards the Wild Dog Outpost, which is recommended for players at level 17 or higher. As you approach the main gate of the Wild Dog Outpost, look for a building labeled “ROSETTA LABORATORY.” Inside, you will find the Medical Records on a table after climbing the stairs.
To access the Weapon and Mystical Crates located below the Medical Records, you will need a Rosetta V2 Access Card, which can be obtained by defeating a Rosetta Bruiser. After acquiring the card, exit the building and navigate to a large gate on your left, where you will find a helicopter on your right.
Once you enter the new section, look for a grey building with a green cargo crate outside. You will need to solve a photo puzzle to access the hidden room containing the Army Records. Align the two photos on the building and the cargo crate so they match up perfectly. This may take a few attempts, but once you succeed, a door will appear, granting you access to the Army Records.
After interacting with the Army Records, you will face a randomly-generated puzzle that requires you to align three numbered segments at the bottom of a circle. Each circle on the right moves the segments in a specific way, so you’ll need to strategize to solve it.
With all three Rosetta research documents in hand, return to Meyer’s Market to complete the Unfinished Expedition quest. You will have the option to hand the documents to either Maxie or Claire.
Interestingly, it doesn’t matter who you choose to give the documents to, as both characters will reward you with the same items: 7 Stellar Planula and 1 Eclipse Cortex Level 2. This means that your choice between Maxie and Claire does not impact the outcome of the quest.
