Over the weekend and into Monday, rumors began swirling about a potential increase in the fare for urban transportation in Córdoba. Speculation suggested that the price of a ticket could rise from 720 to 900 pesos as early as August.
However, city officials from the Municipality of Córdoba confirmed on Monday that no fare increase is planned, neither in the coming days nor in August.
Some private sector observers had anticipated a fare hike, especially since new rates had already been introduced in Rosario and Santa Fe. Historically, Córdoba tends to follow these cities’ lead, raising concerns that similar price adjustments could occur in the near future.
Nonetheless, the Municipality emphasized that it has no intention of increasing fares until the quality of service improves. Officials noted that enhancements to the transit system would commence with the arrival of the first 86 new buses from Coniferal and 50 from Tamse.
The Municipality also informed La Voz that the complete fleet of buses is expected to be operational in the coming weeks.
