He commended the contributions of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), the Paralympic Committee (CPE), and various governmental organizations that have established Spain as a worldwide sports benchmark. Through initiatives like ‘Team España,’ the government has continued to enhance support for athletes.
“You repay that investment with unparalleled reputation but even more so, with emotional returns,” Sánchez remarked, acknowledging the inspiration athletes provide to the youth watching diligently at home. He encouraged the athletes to give their all, expressing confidence that they would serve as exemplary representatives of Spain. “No matter how you place, the satisfaction of having participated and worn Spain’s uniform at the Games will always belong to you.”

Alejandro Blanco, the president of the COE, reflected on the significance of their presence in Paris, noting that they are likely the first Olympic committee to achieve near gender parity. Blanco expressed confidence in the athletes’ ability to exemplify the values of equality and inclusion that sports promote. He acknowledged the long-held dreams they carry and thanked families and the government for their unwavering support in preparing the athletes.
