Watch Channing Tatum Discuss Zoe Kravitz and Call Her Really Annoyingly Cool

Channing Tatum recently appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and couldn’t help but gush about his fiancée, Zoë Kravitz. The actor, known for his roles in “Magic Mike” and “21 Jump Street,” shared his excitement and admiration for Kravitz, calling her “really annoyingly cool.”

“I’m so happy, I don’t even know how to really put it into words,” Tatum told Fallon. “She’s so special, and to get to wake up every day and create with somebody, it’s really, really good.”

The couple met while working on Kravitz’s directorial debut, “Blink Twice,” a psychological thriller set to premiere on August 23. The film follows Frida, a waitress played by Naomi Ackie, who is invited to a private island owned by tech billionaire Slater King, portrayed by Tatum. As strange events unfold, Frida begins to question her reality and must uncover the truth to survive.

Tatum revealed that the role in “Blink Twice” was unlike anything he’d ever been offered. “When Zoë called me about this, I was shocked,” he said. “I’d watched her in movies, knew she produced ‘High Fidelity,’ but I didn’t know she was creating on a level like this, where she wanted to direct. This came out of nowhere, and the subject matter made me say, ‘Wait, why are you thinking about me for this?’ No one gives me a chance to play a role like this.”

The intensity of the project helped strengthen Tatum and Kravitz’s bond. The couple dated for two years before Tatum proposed. “It’s a wild, wild movie,” Tatum teased. “You’ll see me in a different way than you’ve ever seen me, that’s for sure.”

During the interview, Tatum also shared a humorous anecdote about Kravitz’s father, rock star Lenny Kravitz. The actor marveled at Lenny’s impressive physique, joking about a viral video of the musician working out in leather pants, boots, shades, and a mesh shirt. “I thought it was AI at first!” Tatum laughed. “And I was like, ‘Oh no, it’s not AI, it’s just Lenny Kravitz.'”

Tatum’s admiration for Zoë Kravitz extended beyond her cool demeanor and creative talents. He praised her comedic abilities, noting that she and Scarlett Johansson, his co-star in the upcoming NASA-themed romantic comedy “Fly Me to the Moon,” are both underratedly funny. “Zoë’s one of the funniest people I know,” Tatum said. “It’s great.”

The couple’s relationship has been a topic of interest since they first sparked dating rumors in August 2021. They announced their engagement in October 2023. Tatum’s romance with Kravitz is her first since her public split from ex-husband Karl Glusman, with whom she ended an 18-month marriage in 2021.

Tatum’s appearance on “The Tonight Show” also included a discussion about Taylor Swift, whom he described as an “unstoppable force.” He shared a story about attending one of her Eras Tour shows with his daughter, Everly, and being impressed by Swift’s ability to whip up homemade Pop-Tarts. “I mean, I kind of know her a little personally, and she’s really kind of just normal and sweet,” Tatum said. “And she’ll make you, like, a dinner, and like whip it up no problem. Like, homemade Pop-Tarts. Like warm, warm Pop-Tarts. I’m like, ‘Did you just make these? How are these warm?'”

Tatum’s admiration for Swift extended to her performance abilities. “I challenge any triathlete that’s a champion to go and do what she’s doing on stage,” he said. “I was a fan-fan after that.”

As Tatum continues to promote his new films, “Fly Me to the Moon” and “Blink Twice,” his relationship with Kravitz remains a focal point of his public appearances. The actor’s genuine affection and respect for his fiancée were evident throughout his interview with Fallon, highlighting the unique bond they share both personally and professionally.

In a recent interview with People, Tatum emphasized the benefits of creating with a partner. “This is what I’ll say about creating with someone that you are with or love: I suggest it,” he said. “If you are thinking about having a kid or if you’re thinking about getting married, go find the hardest possible creative project with your partner.”

Tatum acknowledged that “Blink Twice” was one of the hardest movies he’s worked on, “for a lot of different reasons.” However, he found solace in knowing that he had the best person by his side. “When you can look across the room or the set and know that you have the best person that is next to you trying to solve problems, and you’re really looking to them for answers just as equally as trying to solve them yourself, that is unbelievable.”

As Tatum and Kravitz prepare for their future together, their shared creative endeavors and mutual admiration continue to strengthen their relationship. Fans eagerly await the release of “Blink Twice” to see the couple’s collaborative efforts come to life on the big screen.
