Glastonbury 2024 is set to be a memorable event, especially for fans of Welsh music. This year, the festival boasts an impressive line-up of Welsh artists, ranging from established names to emerging talents. BBC Radio 6 Music presenter Huw Stephens highlighted the significance of this representation, stating, “The Welsh artists playing at Glastonbury, from the smallest stage to the Pyramid Stage, are going to remember this weekend forever. There is an abundance of Welsh talent at the moment in music, and I think it’s reflected in the Glastonbury line-up this year.”

One of the most anticipated performances is by singer Charlotte Church. Known for her powerful voice and dynamic stage presence, Church will join Billy Bragg’s Radical Roundup on the Left Field stage on Friday from 15:00 to 16:00 BST. This collaboration promises to be a highlight of the festival, blending Church’s unique style with Bragg’s politically charged music.

Newport’s alt-metal band Skindred is another major act to watch. They will take the Avalon Stage on Friday night, performing from 23:05 to 00:20. Skindred’s energetic performances and genre-blending sound have earned them a dedicated following, and their Glastonbury set is expected to be no different.

Wrexham’s indie band The Royston Club will be busy throughout the weekend, with multiple performances scheduled. They will play on Thursday from 16:20 to 17:20 at Bread and Roses, on Friday from 19:00 to 19:40 at Strummerville, and again on Saturday from 15:45 to 16:45 at Bread and Roses. Huw Stephens noted, “The Royston Club from Wrexham have three gigs at Glastonbury this year. It’s a huge deal to be playing what’s regarded as the world’s best festival.”

Another Wrexham artist, Cara Hammond, will perform on Saturday from 12:00 to 12:40 on the Bread and Roses stage. Stephens praised Hammond, saying, “For artists like Cara Hammond from Wrexham, who just did a fantastic Horizons session… it’s a great opportunity.”

Swansea’s indie band Trampolene will also make an appearance on Friday from 16:30 to 17:05 at the Left Field stage. Their frontman, Jack Jones, will join Billy Bragg’s Radical Roundup on Sunday from 15:00 to 16:00, also on the Left Field stage. Stephens commented, “It’s going to be a great experience for them to play. They will remember this year forever.”

Welsh vocalist Bethan Lloyd will have a busy schedule with three performances. She will perform with Nigel Shaw on Friday from 20:00 to 20:45 at the Croissant Neuf Bandstand and again on Sunday from 11:00 to 11:45 at the same venue. Lloyd will also have a solo performance on Sunday from 18:15 to 19:05 on the Toad Hall stage.

N’Famady Kouyaté, a musician from Guinea now based in Cardiff, will perform on Friday from 00:00 to 1:00 at The Hive and on Saturday from 12:30 to 13:30 at the Glade stage. Kouyaté’s unique blend of traditional African music with modern influences is sure to captivate the audience.

For those who prefer DJ sets, Welsh artists will also be leading the Glastonbury crowds. Kelly Lee Owens and Elkka are among the notable names. Owens will perform on Friday from 23:00 to 00:30 at Levels, while Elkka will have two sets: one on Saturday from 14:00 to 15:30 at the Stonebridge Bar and another on Sunday from 16:45 to 17:45 at the Lonely Hearts Club.

Other Welsh DJs include Cut Capers, who will perform on Saturday from 14:15 to 15:10 at the Avalon Stage, and Jamie Jones, who will take the Levels stage on Saturday from 22:30 to 00:00. Jonesy Wales will perform on Sunday with Atki2 and Dub Boy from 17:00 to 19:00 at Babylon Uprising, and Kaptin will perform on Saturday from 1:00 to 1:30 at the Peace Stage.

Additional Welsh artists set to perform include Bau Cat on Sunday from 21:00 to 22:00 at Toad Hall, Fizz on Friday from 20:30 to 21:00 at BBC Music Introducing, and Gillie on Sunday from 16:15 to 17:00 at Toad Hall. K Klass will perform on Friday from 18:35 to 19:35 at the Glade stage.

Huw Stephens summed up the excitement, saying, “Glastonbury is so enormous. It’s so vast, and there are so many artists playing – everybody brings something different to the table. This year’s Welsh acts add a really interesting mix to the Glastonbury line-up.”
