Athletes Competing

Among the new disciplines being introduced at the Paris Games, two sailing events will be featured: kitesurfing and ocean racing. Kitesurfing involves gliding over water on a board while being propelled by a traction kite. Ocean racing, on the other hand, offers a marathon-like challenge on the open seas.

In canoeing, the exciting addition of men’s and women’s extreme slalom has been made. This involves navigating through challenging white-water courses in kayaks or canoes, with the goal of completing the course as quickly as possible without penalties.

In women’s boxing, a new weight category has been added, providing more opportunities for female athletes to compete.

Shooting will introduce a mixed category in skeet, a form of clay pigeon shooting where participants aim at targets launched from various locations at known speeds.

Athletics will also see a new mixed event replacing the traditional 50-kilometer race walk. This will be a marathon divided into four segments of ten kilometers each.

Lastly, breaking (or breakdancing) has officially entered the Olympic roster. This dynamic urban dance style combines acrobatics, defined rhythmic changes, and athletic movements, showcasing remarkable talent and creativity.

As the Paris 2024 Olympics draw closer, excitement continues to build. Athletes and fans alike are looking forward to witnessing these thrilling competitions and the impressive displays of skill and sportsmanship.
