When Calls the Heart star Mamie Laverock’s family has confirmed that she is on the road to recovery after being placed on life support earlier this week. In a new update shared on the GoFundMe page for the 19-year-old’s medical bills, Laverock’s parents, Rob and Nicole, wrote, “Mamie is out of her big surgeries and the doctors say she is doing well. It’s impossible for us to be happier. Thank you all for your support.”
As previously stated on the GoFundMe page, Laverock fell from a five-story walkway while under medical care at a Vancouver hospital. Her mother, Nicole, was able to “get there in time to save her life.” She had been under “intensive treatment” for two weeks, initially placed in a hospital in Winnipeg and later transferred to a hospital in Vancouver, where her family is based. On May 26, she “was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony, from which she fell five stories,” said her parents, Rob and Nicole.
She sustained life-threatening injuries during her fall, requiring her to undergo multiple extensive surgeries and be placed on life support.
Johannah Newmarch, who plays Laverock’s onscreen mother, Molly Sullivan, on When Calls the Heart, wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “I love this family, my heart is broken. A devastating time for all who care for Mamie.” She also urged fans of the Hallmark Channel series to “please help,” as the young actress’ family “need all the support they can get to make it through this.”
Fellow When Calls the Heart co-star Erin Krakow also asked fans to contribute to the GoFundMe, writing on Instagram, “I just donated. If you have the means to do so, I hope you will too. Link in bio.”
“We are deeply saddened to hear the news about Mamie. As a beloved member of our When Calls the Heart community, we wish her and her family peace, comfort, and many prayers during this difficult time,” Hallmark Media previously said in a statement obtained by THR.
The Hallmark Channel has yet to comment on if Laverock is expected to return for season 12, which begins filming in July.
Mamie Laverock’s family has shared an update following her tragic accident. Just over a week after the When Calls the Heart actress was placed on life support following a fall from a five-story balcony, her mother, Nicole Rockmann, shared hopeful news about her health journey. “Mamie just opened her eyes,” Nicole told the Los Angeles Times in an interview published May 30. “Let’s just hope this is the turnaround and she’s going to get through this now. I couldn’t be happier that people reached out and cared. The story will be told.”
The matriarch also provided more insight into the incident, explaining that Mamie, 19, fell while being escorted from a secure unit at St. Paul’s hospital in Vancouver. Additionally, she insisted the fall was not “intended” and left Mamie’s body “shattered” and in “tremendous pain.” She and husband Rob Compton plan to take legal action. “This is an absolute miracle and there will be accountability,” Nicole said. “We have a case.” Ultimately, the family’s main priority remains Mamie’s well-being. “All we care about is that Mamie can make a recovery,” she continued, “and that she’s alive and that she’s fighting and that she’s strong. It’s unbelievable that she’s with us.”
A Providence Health Care spokesperson told E! News that for privacy reasons they do not comment on specific patient incidents, but did add, “In cases related to patient safety, an internal critical incident review is conducted to determine exactly what happened and to make recommendations for improved patient safety.” “Our hearts go out to the patient, family, and all affected by this event,” the spokesperson continued, “and offer our best wishes for a full recovery.”
Mamie was originally taken to the hospital on May 11 after “having a medical emergency,” according to a GoFundMe set up by her parents. They later shared an update saying, “We are deeply saddened to report that on May 26th, Mamie, who has been in intensive treatment for the past two weeks, was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories.” Noting that she “sustained life-threatening injuries,” underwent “multiple extensive surgeries” and “is currently on life support,” the family added, “We are all devastated, in shock, at this intensely difficult time.”
Following the launch of the GoFundMe campaign, many of Mamie’s When Calls the Heart co-stars rallied around the actress. “I just donated,” co-star Erin Krakow shared on Instagram May 27. “If you have the means to do so, I hope you will too.” Mamie’s onscreen mother Johannah Newmarch also shared the info on her social media, writing, “I love this wonderful family so much, and my heart is broken. Such a devastating time for them and all who care deeply for sweet Mamie. Please help if you can. They need all the support they can get to make it through this nightmare.”
When Calls the Heart actress Erin Krakow is sending well wishes to former castmate Mamie Laverock after the latter suffered a near-fatal fall. “Thank you so much for asking; we’ve been in touch and we are wishing her all the best,” Krakow, 39, exclusively tells Page Six Tuesday in a joint interview with co-star Kevin McGarry. “She’s such a great girl and I hope it’s just the speediest recovery,” she continues, emphasizing her support for 19-year-old Laverock. “But we’re going to offer her family some privacy.”
Krakow — who plays leading lady Elizabeth Thornton on the Hallmark Channel series — notes that the outpouring of love from viewers for Laverock in the wake of the incident has been overwhelming for the “WCTH” cast at large. “It’s amazing,” the Juilliard graduate says before acknowledging the show’s fans — affectionately called “Hearties” — directly. “It really is, thank you.”
News broke last month that Laverock was on life support after falling from a five-story balcony at a Vancouver hospital where she had been recovering from an undisclosed “medical emergency.” Her mother, Nicole Rockmann, revealed last week that the family is now planning to take legal action against St. Paul’s Hospital after the tragedy. Laverock’s loved ones have shared several updates about her recovery via GoFundMe, even writing that her body had been “shattered” in the fall. “She is enduring tremendous pain,” one post noted. “She has undergone two 11-hour surgeries with two doctors working on her, a three-hour surgery and another surgery.”
However, the update included that she is “doing well” and “showing signs of improvement” despite her recovery being “unclear.” On Friday, Laverock’s inner circle posted a caption-free photo of the teenager’s hand — seemingly hooked up to an IV — resting on a teddy bear from what appears to be a hospital bed. Laverock played Rosalyn Sullivan on “WCTH” for the Western drama’s first two seasons. She reprised her role as the nursing student in 2023’s Season 10.
Following her fall, a spokesperson for Hallmark Media told Page Six that the network was “deeply saddened” by the news. “As a beloved member of our ‘When Calls the Heart’ community,” the message continued, “we wish her and her family peace, comfort, and many prayers during this difficult time.”
“When Calls the Heart” actor Mamie Laverock has opened her eyes since falling from a hospital balcony on May 11, her mother is revealing. “Mamie just opened her eyes,” her mother Nicole Rockmann told the Los Angeles Times Thursday, although she is still on life support. “Let’s just hope this is the turnaround and she’s going to get through this now,” she continued: “I couldn’t be happier that people reached out and cared. The story will be told.”
Laverock “was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories,” Laverock’s parents wrote on a GoFundMe page set up for the actress last month. “She sustained life-threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries and is currently on life support. We are all devastated, in shock, at this intensely difficult time.” At the time, they didn’t reveal the hospital location.
Rockmann told the L.A. Times her daughter was being treated at St. Paul’s Hospital when the fall “shattered” her body. “This is an absolute miracle and there will be accountability,” Laverock’s mom continued, emphasizing that the fall was not “intended” nor was it a suicide attempt. The actress’ family is moving forward with legal action for negligence, per Rockmann. “We have a case. All we care about is that Mamie can make a recovery and that she’s alive and that she’s fighting and that she’s strong. It’s unbelievable that she’s with us.”
Ann Gibbon, a spokesperson for Providence Health Care, which operates St. Paul’s Hospital, confirmed to the L.A. Times that “an incident happened” at the hospital but did not elaborate on the specifics. “In cases related to patient safety, an internal critical incident review is conducted to determine exactly what happened and to make recommendations for improved patient safety,” Gibbon said. “Our hearts go out to the patient, family, and all affected by this event, and we offer our best wishes for a full recovery.”
Laverock, best known for her role as Rosaleen Sullivan on the Hallmark Channel romantic drama, had been in “intensive treatment for the past two weeks” following a May 11 hospitalization in Winnipeg, Canada, for an undisclosed “medical emergency,” per Laverock’s GoFundMe. She was subsequently transferred to a hospital in Vancouver.
The actress first appeared on “When Calls the Heart” during the series’ first season in 2014, according to her IMDb page. Following an eight-season hiatus, she returned for Season 10 in 2023. Laverock’s other credits include the 2012 action-comedy “This Means War,” a two-episode stint on the Netflix children’s dramedy “A Series of Unfortunate Events” and the 2020 Lifetime movie “Spotlight on Christmas,” per IMDb.
In a statement to People magazine and Variety, a spokesperson for Hallmark Media said the network is “deeply saddened to hear the news about Mamie.” “As a beloved member of our ‘When Calls the Heart’ community, we wish her and her family peace, comfort and many prayers during this difficult time,” the statement concluded.
Mamie Laverock’s family shared the first photo of the “When Calls the Heart” actress since her May hospitalization. The close-up shot was posted to Laverock’s Facebook account without a caption Friday, simply showing the 19-year-old’s hand resting on a teddy bear in bed. Laverock’s fingernails were painted red in the snap. The teenager, whose face remained out of the frame, was hooked up to an IV.
News broke last month that Laverock was on life support after falling from a five-story balcony at a Vancouver hospital where she had been recovering from an undisclosed “medical emergency.” Her mom, Nicole Rockmann, revealed last week that the family is now planning to take legal action against St. Paul’s Hospital in the wake of the tragedy. Rockmann told the Los Angeles Times that she believes she can take up a “negligence-type” case, vowing, “There will be accountability.”
