Eva Longoria, who famously portrayed Gabrielle “Gabby” Solis on the hit ABC dramedy “Desperate Housewives,” has expressed a strong desire to return to Wisteria Lane. At the premiere of her new Apple TV+ series, “Land of Women,” Longoria shared her enthusiasm for a potential reboot of the beloved show.
“Oh my God, yes! I would be the first to sign up for the reboot,” Longoria told ET. She revealed that she has even approached the show’s creator, Marc Cherry, multiple times about the possibility. “I’ve told him a hundred times,” she said. “I was like, ‘Let’s do it again. I miss Wisteria Lane. I miss the girls. I miss Gaby Solis. I miss being her.'”
Despite Longoria’s eagerness, the chances of a “Desperate Housewives” reboot seem slim. Last year, Longoria mentioned that Cherry had told her on more than one occasion that he didn’t have anything else to say about the characters. This has led her to doubt that a reboot will ever happen.
The original series, which aired from 2004 to 2012, starred Longoria alongside Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, and Nicollette Sheridan. The show followed the lives of a group of women living on Wisteria Lane, a seemingly perfect suburban street with its fair share of secrets and drama.
Longoria, however, hasn’t let go of her character, Gaby Solis. She speculated on what Gaby would be doing more than a decade after the series finale. “She’d be an influencer for sure. She’d be a social media mogul,” Longoria said, imagining Gaby’s life in the age of Instagram and TikTok.
While a “Desperate Housewives” reboot may not be in the cards, Longoria is keeping busy with other projects. She teased her upcoming role in the fourth season of “Only Murders in the Building,” which premieres on August 27 on Hulu. “It’s a really funny character,” she said. “When you find out who I play, you’re going to be like, ‘That’s perfect!'”
Longoria’s enthusiasm for a “Desperate Housewives” reboot is shared by many fans who fondly remember the show’s mix of humor, drama, and mystery. The series was groundbreaking in its portrayal of complex female characters and its willingness to tackle controversial topics. However, the show’s creator, Marc Cherry, seems to have moved on, leaving the future of Wisteria Lane uncertain.
In the meantime, Longoria continues to make her mark in Hollywood. Her new series, “Land of Women,” is set to premiere on Apple TV+, and she remains a prominent figure in the entertainment industry. While fans may never see a “Desperate Housewives” reboot, they can still enjoy Longoria’s work in other exciting projects.
