Kaia Gerber is proving to be a supportive girlfriend once again!
Although Gerber, 22, didn’t walk the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of Austin Butler’s latest film, “The Bikeriders,” on Monday, June 17, she was there to cheer him on from the sidelines.
Entertainment Weekly shared a heartwarming video of the model standing among the crowd at TCL Chinese Theatre as Butler, 32, approached her for a sweet kiss.
The film, set to release on Friday, June 21, features Butler as Benny, the newest member of a Midwestern motorcycle club in the 1960s led by Johnny, played by Tom Hardy. According to the synopsis, Benny catches the eye of a “strong-willed” woman named Kathy, portrayed by Jodie Comer, during a chance encounter at a local bar, forcing him to choose between her and his loyalty to the club.
Butler and Gerber first sparked dating rumors after being spotted together in Los Angeles in December 2021. They made their relationship public in March 2022 when they attended W Magazine’s annual Best Performances party hand-in-hand.
In February, the couple was seen attending an afterparty for the London premiere of Butler’s film “Dune: Part Two.” For the date night, Gerber wore a glittering Tom Ford gown and jacket, metallic sandals, and a gold clutch, while Butler opted for a black Gucci suit.
After being spotted in New York City for part of Memorial Day Weekend, a source told PEOPLE that their relationship is still “going strong.”
“Kaia and Austin are going strong. They held hands the entire way to dinner and stopped and hugged a few times before going into a club [on May 24]. They definitely looked happy and in love,” the source said.
Throughout their romance, Butler has also been a proud supporter of Gerber. Last October, he attended the Valentino Womenswear Spring/Summer show during Paris Fashion Week, which she opened. It was the final show for Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton, a moment Gerber described as “emotional and deeply moving.”
Butler shared his admiration for Burton in a letter on Instagram, writing, “In your 26 years at McQueen, you carried the torch with the utmost grace, attentiveness, and creativity. You dreamt for all of us and brought those dreams to life. Your designs felt like a gentle armor, like a thoughtful articulation, like a warm hug. Like they were made for us. And dear maestro, they were.”
Austin Butler shared a tender moment with his girlfriend Kaia Gerber at the premiere of “The Bikeriders” on Monday. The Oscar-nominated star, 32, who plays motorcycle gang member Benny in the 1960s thriller, was spotted sneaking a smooch with the stunning model, 22, in a viral video shared by ET. In the clip, the handsome actor navigates through the red carpet crowd before meeting Kaia and quickly stealing a kiss. Dressed in a distinctive all-black suit without a shirt, Austin then places his hand on Kaia’s back as she dazzles in a chic mini dress.
Hollywood’s It couple led a cavalcade of stars at the event, including Jodie Comer, Jason Momoa, Cher, Norman Reedus, Mario Lopez, and more.
The PDA display comes after Austin traveled Down Under earlier this month to attend the much-awaited Australian premiere of the crime thriller at the Sydney Film Festival. Austin appeared in good spirits as he posed next to a Harley-Davidson in front of Sydney’s iconic landmark.
“The Bikeriders” tells the fictional story of a Chicago outlaw motorcycle club called The Vandals, inspired by photographer Danny Lyon’s 1967 portfolio of the same name. The action-drama follows the tumultuous rise of the fictional 1960s Midwestern motorcycle club as it goes from a gathering place for local outsiders to a more sinister gang. Austin’s character Benny comes into conflict with the biker gang’s leader Johnny, played by Tom Hardy, as the group begins to shift towards more criminal dealings. Jodie Comer stars as Benny’s girlfriend Kathy, while the cast also features other big names including Norman Reedus and Michael Shannon.
The inspiration behind Jeff Nichols’ latest feature was Danny Lyon’s 1967 photobook, which centered on the Chicago-based motorcycle club Outlaws MC.
Austin is no stranger to Australia, having previously spent time Down Under filming for Baz Luhrmann’s smash hit “Elvis” biopic. Taking on the leading role of Elvis Presley, Austin spent a considerable amount of time shooting on the Gold Coast for the epic. His portrayal of the King of Rock and Roll earned him a Golden Globe and a BAFTA, along with an Academy Award nomination.
The actor began dating Kaia in December 2021, following her relationships with Jacob Elordi and Pete Davidson. He previously dated Vanessa Hudgens from 2011 to 2019.
