Pop singer Lucy Spraggan has tied the knot with her longtime girlfriend, Emilia Smith. The couple’s wedding, which took place earlier this month, was a heartwarming affair, with Simon Cowell walking Spraggan down the aisle. The two have maintained a close relationship since Spraggan’s appearance on The X Factor in 2012.
Spraggan shared the exciting news of their engagement on Instagram in March, revealing that they planned to marry in June. The couple first met a decade ago and have grown closer over the years. Spraggan proposed to Smith last December during a flight to Barbados to visit Cowell and his partner, Lauren Silverman. The spontaneous proposal was met with mutual enthusiasm, leading to their recent nuptials.
In an interview with The Sun, Spraggan recounted the moment she asked Cowell to give her away. “We’d been staying at Simon and Lauren’s house for a few days. One morning, Simon was about to get in the sea, and I said, ‘Will you give me away?’ and he replied, ‘Yeah!’ He went off for a swim, and when he came back, he said, ‘I’d absolutely love to. It would be an honour.'”
The newlyweds have been sharing glimpses of their honeymoon on social media, including photos from a yacht. Emilia Smith also posted pictures from a previous photoshoot, expressing her admiration for her wife and hinting at more wedding photos to come.
This joyous occasion marks a new chapter for Spraggan, who has overcome significant personal challenges, including a traumatic incident during her time on The X Factor. Now, with Smith by her side, Spraggan looks forward to a bright future together.
