Disney has announced a grand celebration for the 30th anniversary of the beloved animated classic, “The Lion King.” This iconic film will return to theaters, offering fans an immersive live-to-film concert experience. The event will feature the original 1994 movie projected on large screens, accompanied by a live orchestra, fireworks, and stunning vocal performances of the film’s award-winning songs.
The celebration will be held at the Hollywood Bowl, with a live orchestra conducted by Sarah Hicks. Attendees can expect to see special celebrity guests, including cast members from both the 1994 and 2019 versions of the film. Notable names such as Billy Eichner, Bradley Gibson, Ernie Sabella, Heather Headley, Jason Weaver, Jeremy Irons, Lebo M., and Nathan Lane will be present. Additionally, special appearances by North West and Jennifer Hudson are also on the agenda.
For the first time ever at the Hollywood Bowl, select performances from the Tony Award®-winning Broadway musical will be included in the event. This unique blend of film and live performance promises to be a memorable experience for fans of all ages.
The event is brought to life by the producers of Disney’s Encanto at the Hollywood Bowl and Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium. Disney Concerts, Fulwell 73 Productions, AMP Worldwide, and Live Nation-Hewitt Silva are collaborating to make this celebration a reality.
Tickets for this highly anticipated event are now on sale. Amex® Card Members had early access to presale tickets, which began on April 16th and ended on April 18th. In addition to the Hollywood Bowl event, Disney World has announced a summer-long celebration at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. From June 10th through September 6th, the park will be transformed to honor the 30th anniversary of “The Lion King.” The celebration will feature a new merchandise collection, special menu items, and the iconic Festival of The Lion King stage show.
Visitors can look forward to unique treats, including a Pumbaa popcorn bucket, and special menu items inspired by the film. Disney Eats will provide more details on these delicious offerings as the event approaches.
Guests can also meet Timon and Rafiki at Rafiki’s Planet Watch, where they can embrace the “Hakuna Matata” lifestyle. The My Disney Experience app will provide information on when these beloved characters are available for meet-and-greets. Additionally, visitors can participate in the Animation Experience to learn how to draw characters from “The Lion King.”
