June 10, 2024 – SLIPKNOT’s new drummer, Eloy Casagrande, has released a drum-cam video showcasing his performance of the song “Eyeless” during a recent festival appearance. Fans can now witness his incredible drumming skills up close.
In a recent interview with Tone-Talk, SLIPKNOT guitarist Jim Root discussed how Casagrande joined the band and the impact he has had on their sound. Root revealed that Casagrande reached out to the band, expressing his interest in joining. He began sending videos of his performances, which impressed the band members.
Root mentioned that Casagrande and SLIPKNOT’s bassist, Alessandro ‘Vman’ Venturella, had a prior connection through mutual friends. This relationship, along with Casagrande’s passion and respect for the band’s legacy, made him a perfect fit for SLIPKNOT. Root praised Casagrande’s humility and dedication to his craft, noting that his passion reignited Root’s own enthusiasm for music.
Root also highlighted the excitement among South American fans about having a Brazilian drummer in SLIPKNOT. He shared a story about South American promoters expressing their joy, likening it to winning the World Cup. Root emphasized how well Casagrande has integrated into the band, expressing gratitude for his presence.
For their 2024 performances, SLIPKNOT has embraced a nostalgic look, donning the red jumpsuits and early mask elements from their 1999 era. This ties into the band’s celebration of their 25th anniversary this year.
SLIPKNOT parted ways with their previous drummer, Jay Weinberg, last November. The band hinted at a new drummer by posting a photo of a broken drumstick with the caption “Rehearsal.” The split with Weinberg was described as a creative decision, though Weinberg expressed his heartbreak and surprise at the dismissal. He has since joined SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and INFECTIOUS GROOVES.
Casagrande’s journey to SLIPKNOT began when he abruptly left SEPULTURA three and a half months ago, just before rehearsals for their 40th-anniversary farewell tour. SEPULTURA announced his departure, stating that Casagrande left to pursue a new project. He had been with SEPULTURA for nearly 13 years, replacing Jean Dolabella.
SLIPKNOT’s latest album, “The End, So Far,” was released in August 2022. It was the band’s last full-length album before the departures of keyboardist Craig Jones in June 2023 and drummer Jay Weinberg.
SLIPKNOT recently announced the North American leg of their “Here Comes The Pain” tour, celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut album, “Slipknot.” The tour, produced by Live Nation, includes arena shows across the country this summer. Highlights include performances at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, Los Angeles’s Intuit Dome, and Austin’s Moody Center. The tour features support from KNOCKED LOOSE, with ORBIT CULTURE and VENDED joining on select dates.
