ANOHNI and the Johnsons have unveiled a new track titled “Breaking,” following last week’s tour announcement. The single, released through Rough Trade, is a product of the same sessions that birthed the 2023 album, My Back Was a Bridge for You to Cross. This marks a significant return for ANOHNI, who will be performing live for the first time since 2017, with the tour extending into October.
The new song “Breaking” is a delicate and elegant ballad. ANOHNI’s vocals are accompanied by gentle guitar and possibly flute, creating a hauntingly beautiful soundscape. The track was co-written with producer Jimmy Hogarth, known for his work on major pop records. Hogarth will also be part of the backing band for the upcoming tour.
ANOHNI and the Johnsons have reformed, with a new version of the old backing band. Last year, they released the album My Back Was a Bridge for You to Cross. Recently, they announced their first North American tour in 15 years. Today, they have shared the new single “Breaking.”
“Breaking” is now available on Rebis Music/Rough Trade.
