Alstom Wins €4 Billion Contract for 90 Trains in Germany

Alstom has announced that it has secured a contract worth over 4 billion euros to build 90 commuter trains for the Cologne region. This significant agreement includes maintenance services for a period of 34 years and marks the largest contract the French company has won in Germany to date.

The deal, finalized with local transport authorities in Cologne, involves two models of the Adessia Stream trains. One version will feature nine cars, measuring approximately 150 meters in length and capable of carrying up to 1,150 passengers. The second version will have eleven cars, extending to nearly 170 meters, with a capacity to accommodate 1,340 passengers.

In a statement, Alstom indicated that the development of these trains will be handled by its Hennigsdorf facility in Germany, while production will take place at the Bautzen plant also located in the country. These trains are designed to operate at a maximum speed of 140 kilometers per hour.
