Billie Eilish Calls Ex Jesse Rutherford One of My Favorite People Jokes She’s Never Dating Again

In the ever-evolving world of celebrity relationships, Billie Eilish and Jesse Rutherford have managed to keep things amicable post-breakup. The 22-year-old pop sensation recently opened up about her relationship with The Neighbourhood frontman, whom she dated for about seven months between 2022 and 2023. Despite their split, Eilish has nothing but kind words for her ex.

“That’s my guy, truly one of my favorite people in the world,” Eilish said in a previously unpublished snippet from her April Rolling Stone cover story, which was released by the publication on May 17. The “What Was I Made For?” singer also humorously mentioned that she doesn’t see herself dating anyone else anytime soon. “I plan on never dating again,” she joked. “That’s not true, obviously. But no, I don’t see myself being serious with anyone until I find someone that really feels right to me, and that is not interesting to me right now.”

From Rumors to Reality

Eilish and Rutherford first sparked dating rumors in October 2022. The couple went Instagram official later that month, showcasing their Halloween costumes that humorously highlighted their age gap—Eilish dressed as a baby, while Rutherford went as an old man. This playful approach to their relationship endeared them to fans, who were both surprised and delighted by their public displays of affection.

However, by May 2023, the couple had decided to part ways. A representative for Eilish confirmed the breakup to Page Six, stating, “We can confirm Billie and Jesse did split amicably and remain good friends.” Rutherford’s representative also confirmed to Billboard, adding, “All cheating rumors are false. Both are currently single.”

New Beginnings

The release of the interview snippets coincided with the launch of Eilish’s third studio album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” a 10-track set produced by her older brother and longtime collaborator, Finneas. The album’s title was inspired by the name of a synth instrument in Logic Pro, and Eilish revealed that she almost named the album “Patheticville,” based on a quote from Mindy Kaling’s character in “The Office.”

“I just thought that was awesome, and we laughed and we wrote it down,” Eilish said. “Then there’s a couple more that we thought of and nothing was really sticking, but I knew it would come. It always comes.”

Maintaining Friendships

Despite their breakup, Eilish and Rutherford have managed to maintain a strong friendship. This is a testament to their maturity and mutual respect for each other. In an industry where breakups can often lead to public feuds and drama, their amicable split is a refreshing change.

Eilish’s decision to remain single for the time being is also a sign of her focus on personal growth and career development. As she continues to navigate the complexities of fame and relationships, her fans can look forward to more music and perhaps, in the future, another romantic chapter.
