Gavin Rossdale, the frontman of the iconic rock band Bush, has revealed some thrilling news for fans eagerly awaiting new music. In a recent interview with Billboard, Rossdale shared that he is currently immersed in creating new material, following up on the band’s 2022 album, “The Art Of Survival.”
Rossdale expressed his dedication to the creative process, stating, “I am going to leave here today and head to the studio to work on more for the next record.” He described the songwriting journey as both challenging and rewarding, adding, “There’s a painful, tortuous process like, ‘Oh my God, what am I doing? I can’t do it, this last song I did was the best song I wrote, now what am I gonna do?’ And then you just sort of forge forward and you find it… so this week I’m reaping the rewards of last week’s writing and working in the studio when I leave here. I like to live in the moment.”
The 58-year-old musician is optimistic about completing Bush’s tenth studio album before embarking on their extensive North American headline tour next month. “I’m definitely going to have a new song this summer,” he confirmed.
Bush is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary with the “Loaded: The Greatest Hits Tour,” which kicks off on July 26 in Bend, Oregon. The tour will feature special guests Jerry Cantrell and Candlebox, with most dates produced by Live Nation. The tour will include notable stops at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey, and the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
With over 24 million records sold and a billion streams, Bush has cemented its place as a significant force in rock music. The band, consisting of Rossdale, Chris Traynor on guitar, Corey Britz on bass, and Nik Hughes on drums, continues to expand its legacy. Their first-ever greatest-hits collection, “Loaded: The Greatest Hits 1994-2023,” released on November 10 via Round Hill Records, showcases 21 tracks spanning nearly three decades. The collection includes hits from their debut single “Everything’s Zen” to their latest single, “Nowhere To Go But Everywhere,” which has already climbed into the Top 20 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart.
“Loaded” features iconic tracks from each of Bush’s nine studio albums, including “Mouth” (The Stingray Mix) from the 1997 remix album “Deconstructed” and a cover of The Beatles’ “Come Together,” which had a limited release in 2012. This year also marks the 30th anniversary of Bush’s six-times-platinum debut album, “Sixteen Stone,” making it fitting that “Loaded” includes five tracks from this seminal album: “Everything Zen,” “Little Things,” “Machinehead,” and the group’s first No. 1 singles, “Comedown” and “Glycerine.”
Other chart-topping hits in the collection include the Grammy-nominated “Swallowed” from 1996’s “Razorblade Suitcase,” “The Chemicals Between Us” from 1999’s “The Science Of Things,” “The Sound Of Winter” from 2011’s “The Sea Of Memories,” and “More Than Machines” from their 2022 album “The Art Of Survival,” which became Bush’s seventh single to top the Active Rock Radio chart. “Bullet Holes,” prominently featured in the blockbuster film “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,” is one of three tracks from their 2020 album “The Kingdom.”
Bush disbanded in 2002 but reunited in 2010, releasing five albums since then: “The Sea of Memories” (2011), “Man On The Run” (2014), “Black And White Rainbows” (2017), “The Kingdom” (2020), and “The Art Of Survival” (2022). “Black And White Rainbows” was notably crafted after Rossdale’s divorce from pop star and reality TV judge Gwen Stefani in 2015.
As Bush prepares to hit the road, fans can look forward to experiencing the band’s rich musical history live, along with the excitement of new music on the horizon. The anticipation for their upcoming single and the promise of a new album this summer adds to the celebration of their enduring legacy in rock music.
