The alleged victim of rape involving French rugby players Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jegou reported a total of fifteen injuries on her body, confirmed Martín Ahumada, a spokesperson for the judiciary in Mendoza, Argentina, where the incident reportedly took place.
Ahmad stated, "We refer to them as ‘injuries.’ The nature of these injuries—whether they resulted from blows or holds—has not been determined."
These injuries were documented in a report prepared by the forensic medical team, which examined the woman on July 7, the day she filed her complaint against Auradou and Jegou. This was shortly after the alleged incident, according to Natacha Romano, the lawyer representing the complainant.
In an interview with AFP on July 11, Romano detailed the condition of her client, stating, “The woman had marks on her back, bite marks, scratches, and bruises on her chest, legs, and ribs.” She also mentioned that Auradou allegedly struck her client in the face.
In response, Antoine Vey, one of the players’ attorneys, labeled the fifteen marks as completely "fake news," claiming that the complainant’s lawyer was spreading information that was both extrapolated and taken out of context, as stated in an interview with French channel RMC.
Auradou and Jegou were detained on July 8 in Buenos Aires and were transferred to Mendoza on July 10. The following day, they were formally charged with aggravated rape following the woman’s allegations, which came just after a friendly match against Argentina’s rugby team in Mendoza.
The athletes maintain that the sexual encounter was consensual and deny any use of violence. The incidents they are accused of allegedly took place at the Diplomatic Hotel, where the French team was staying.
Currently, both players are under house arrest in Mendoza as they await a preliminary hearing that will determine whether they remain detained throughout the legal process or are released.
