Howie Mandel recently shared a terrifying experience involving his wife, Terry, during a trip to Las Vegas. The “America’s Got Talent” judge recounted the incident on “Live with Kelly and Mark,” revealing how a night of partying took a horrifying turn.
Mandel, who has been married to Terry for over 40 years, explained that the couple had been enjoying a night out in Sin City. “We partied,” he said. “It was too much. And [Terry] was tipsy. I did not know that, and in the middle of the night she got up and, I don’t know where she was headed, but she headed into the wall.”
The impact was severe. Terry suffered significant bruising and lacerations to her forehead and left eye. “She fell and hit the wainscoting. She hit that as she went down. She slipped, went down, hit that on her eye, then fell on the floor, and broke her cheek,” Mandel detailed.
Mandel was awakened by a loud thump followed by Terry’s cries. “I woke up and I went, ‘Where are you?’ And she went ‘I don’t know.’ That’s what she said,” he recalled. Turning on the light, he was met with a horrifying sight. Terry was lying face down in a pool of blood.
“I turn on the light, I look, I look around the bed. She’s in the corner, face down, and I didn’t know she’d cut her head. But blood is pooling,” he shared. “I freaked out. I picked her up, I put her on the bed. There’s blood everywhere. I went and grabbed all the towels, and all the towels are covered with blood. And she’s going ‘Get me ice. Get me ice.’ I don’t know where to get ice.”
In a desperate attempt to help, Mandel grabbed a can of soda from the mini-fridge and placed it on Terry’s head. However, she threw it across the room in pain. “When she did that, I saw her head, and you could actually see her skull. It opened up,” he said. “I freaked.”
Mandel then rushed Terry to the hospital, where she received treatment for her injuries. Fortunately, Terry has since made a full recovery. “She is absolutely perfect,” Mandel said. “There is not a scar. She is beautiful.”
The incident, which occurred in February, left a lasting impression on Mandel. He shared images of Terry’s injuries, showing severe bruising and lacerations. Despite the ordeal, Terry is now doing well, and the couple has moved past the frightening experience.
During his appearance on “Live with Kelly and Mark,” Mandel emphasized the importance of his wife in his life. “She’s the love of my life. This is everything I have,” he said. The couple’s bond, which began when they were childhood sweethearts, has only grown stronger over the years.
Mandel’s recounting of the incident serves as a reminder of the unexpected dangers that can arise, even during a seemingly fun night out. The comedian’s quick thinking and love for his wife undoubtedly played a crucial role in her recovery.
As the couple continues to enjoy their life together, this harrowing experience will likely remain a vivid memory. However, it also highlights the resilience and strength of their relationship, proving that they can overcome even the most challenging situations.
