James Middleton Shows Support After Latest Cancer Update
Princess Kate Middleton has re-emerged into public life, bolstered by the unwavering support of her brother, James Middleton. After a period of silence and canceled engagements, Kate, 42, shared an update on her cancer battle via Instagram on Friday, June 14. She also announced her return to public duties, starting with the annual Trooping the Color parade on Saturday, June 15. James, 37, expressed his support by leaving a red heart emoji on her post and liking a subsequent post about attending King Charles III’s birthday celebration.
This isn’t the first time James has publicly supported his sister during her cancer fight. In March, he posted a nostalgic photo of himself and Kate, offering words of encouragement. “Over the years, we have climbed many mountains together. As a family, we will climb this one with you too ⛰️❤️,” he wrote.
James will delve deeper into his childhood and his relationship with Kate and their sister Pippa Matthews in his upcoming memoir, “Meet Ella.” The book will focus on his early life and his bond with his first dog.
In her recent update, Kate described her treatment as having “good days and bad days.” She explained, “On those bad days, you feel weak and tired, and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.” She added that her treatment would continue for a few more months. On days when she feels well, she enjoys engaging with school life, spending time on activities that give her energy and positivity, and doing some work from home.
Kate expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support she has received since announcing her treatment. “I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months,” she wrote. “It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.”
Kate attended the Trooping the Color parade with her family on June 15 in London. However, she mentioned on Instagram that she is taking her recovery one day at a time. “I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal,” she wrote. “Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.”
James Middleton has been a pillar of support for his sister, especially after her shocking health announcement. On March 22, Kate revealed her cancer diagnosis and that she was undergoing chemotherapy. James responded with a heartfelt Instagram post featuring a childhood photo of the two siblings. “Over the years, we have climbed many mountains together. As a family, we will climb this one with you too ⛰️❤️,” he captioned the photo.
James has also been open about his own struggles with mental health. He has shared his battle with depression, describing it as “a cancer of the mind.” In a 2019 op-ed for the Daily Mail, he detailed his experience with clinical depression, which began in 2016. “I couldn’t communicate, even with those I loved best: my family and close friends,” he wrote. He credited his public profile and his family for giving him a platform to share his story.
James is not just a supportive brother but also an entrepreneur and dog lover. He founded James & Ella, a company focused on the happiness and well-being of dogs. He is also the author of the upcoming book “Meet Ella,” which explores his early life and his friendship with his first dog.
In 2021, James married Alizee Thevenet, a French financial analyst. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Inigo, in October 2023. James shared the joyous news on Instagram, describing the overwhelming emotion of meeting his son for the first time. “He has been in our lives for just a few weeks but they have been the most special of my life getting to know our beautiful baby boy,” he wrote.
As Kate continues her battle with cancer, the support from her family, especially her brother James, remains a source of strength and encouragement. Their bond, forged through years of shared experiences and challenges, is now more vital than ever.
