Joseph Quinn’s character, Eddie Munson, may have met a tragic end in the fourth season of Netflix’s hit series “Stranger Things,” but fans are buzzing with speculation about his potential return in the show’s fifth and final season. Quinn recently attended the New York premiere of his new sci-fi horror thriller, “A Quiet Place: Day One,” and shared some intriguing hints about Eddie’s possible comeback.
Speaking with ET’s Rachel Smith at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater, Quinn hinted that the “chances are high” for him to reunite with his former castmates and the show’s creators. “I love those guys! I’d love to say hello,” Quinn said, keeping his response deliberately vague but suggestive.
Reflecting on the show’s final season, Quinn expressed confidence in the creators’ ability to deliver a memorable conclusion. “I’m sure they’re working very hard to land the plane,” he said. “It’s been a long time that they’ve been working on that, so I’m really delighted that they’re kind of getting towards the end, and they’re having a nice time. I’m sure they’re gonna deliver it in a pretty epic way. I have no doubts.”
When asked directly about Eddie Munson’s return, Quinn played coy but didn’t dismiss the possibility. “I might have that feeling too,” he said with a laugh. “Or maybe I don’t. I don’t know! Who knows?”
While fans eagerly await the final season of “Stranger Things,” they can catch Quinn in “A Quiet Place: Day One,” where he stars alongside Lupita Nyong’o and Djimon Hounsou. The film, a prequel to the 2018 original “A Quiet Place,” is directed by Michael Sarnoski and follows a businessman named Eric (played by Quinn) who teams up with a young woman named Sam (Nyong’o) and her cat, Frodo, amidst an alien invasion.
Nyong’o revealed that taking on the role was more challenging than she anticipated due to her fear of cats. “I was very afraid of cats before I made this movie. It’s actually why I hesitated about whether I would accept this role or not because of my fear of cats,” she admitted. “I had to get over my fear of cats before I could start this movie. But they were spectacular.”
Quinn also shared his thoughts on overcoming fears for roles, noting that every job comes with its own set of challenges. “I think every job has a certain set of fears that you have to overcome. I think you’re going into an environment you don’t really know,” he explained. “But I haven’t had anything as drastic as Lupita had. That was a pretty dramatic fear that she had. She did a lot of therapy and now look where she’s got up to! She’s obsessed with cats now.”
Fans can look forward to seeing Quinn and Nyong’o face off against an alien invasion in “A Quiet Place: Day One,” which hits theaters on June 28.
As for “Stranger Things,” the anticipation for the final season is palpable. The show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, have been tight-lipped about plot details, but the return of beloved characters like Eddie Munson would undoubtedly excite fans. Quinn’s hints and playful responses have only fueled the speculation, making the wait for the final season even more intense.
The character of Eddie Munson quickly became a fan favorite in the fourth season, thanks to Quinn’s compelling performance.
