The Minister of Security in Chubut, Héctor Iturrioz, has provided insights into how they will pursue leads concerning Loan, following a soldier’s claim that he spotted the missing boy in Comodoro Rivadavia. The investigation has been launched in both Comodoro Rivadavia and Santa Cruz.
The soldier reported seeing a child resembling the one missing from Corrientes, who identified himself by saying, “I am Loan.” Authorities are currently examining security camera footage to verify the soldier’s account.
On Monday, law enforcement conducted seven search warrants, with the first five related to the residences of Carlos Pérez and Victoria Caillava.
The role of professional and critical journalism is essential to democracy. This often unsettles those who believe they own the truth.
The minister spoke with TN, indicating that he views the soldier’s statement as potentially misleading. He mentioned that while the retired military personnel shared his experience from the previous night, they are now verifying what he reported through camera footage. He emphasized the need for a scientific analysis of these images. Personally, he noted that the physical characteristics didn’t align with what he expected, suggesting the child appeared older. However, he reiterated the importance of thorough examinations.
The phrase “I am Loan,” spoken by the boy, triggered the search efforts in Comodoro Rivadavia. The soldier is now reaffirming his statement and providing more details about what he observed. Iturrioz labeled this as a misleading lead, pointing out that it seems unlikely for someone who disappeared two thousand kilometers away to be openly present in a populated area.
Efforts are underway to locate more security cameras in the vicinity, and authorities are working to enhance the clarity of the footage that captured the boy, which is currently unclear. They hope to show these images to Loan’s parents for identification purposes, and the identity of the adult who was seen with the boy remains unknown.
While this operation has caused traffic complications, Iturrioz stated that everyone involved shares the goal of finding Loan. They are coordinating with provincial forces until judicial decisions are made and are also collaborating with federal command.
