Michael C Hall Set to Return in New Sequel Series

Fans of the iconic series “Dexter” have reason to celebrate as Michael C. Hall is set to return in a new sequel series titled “Dexter: Resurrection.” This exciting announcement was made during the Comic-Con panel for the prequel series, “Dexter: Original Sin.” Hall, who originally portrayed the beloved character Dexter Morgan, will not only narrate the prequel but will also reprise his role in the upcoming sequel.

Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount Global, expressed his enthusiasm for Hall’s return, stating, “We are thrilled to have the brilliant Michael C. Hall reprise his iconic role as Dexter Morgan in Showtime’s most successful series ever.” He emphasized that “Dexter: Resurrection” aims to captivate the long-time fans of the series while “Dexter: Original Sin” seeks to introduce a new generation of viewers to the franchise.

The original “Dexter” series aired on Showtime from 2006 to 2013, followed by “Dexter: New Blood” in 2021, which took place a decade after the original series finale. “Resurrection” will serve as a sequel to “New Blood,” continuing the story in present day. Fans can look forward to its debut in the summer of 2025. For those eager to catch up, previous seasons of both “Dexter” and “Dexter: New Blood” are available for streaming on Paramount+ with the Showtime plan.

In recent months, the original “Dexter” series has seen a resurgence in popularity, climbing the Nielsen charts. In the week of June 24, it secured the No. 2 spot on the top 10 chart, amassing an impressive 1.48 billion viewing minutes across all platforms. This surge in viewership has allowed it to surpass other popular shows like “The Bear,” “The Boys,” and “Bridgerton.”

During the Comic-Con panel, Hall joined showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips, executive producer Scott Reynolds, and cast members Christian Slater, Patrick Gibson, and Molly Brown. The panel was moderated by guest star Sarah Michelle Gellar, adding to the excitement of the event.

The prequel series, “Dexter: Original Sin,” consists of 10 episodes set in 1991, 15 years prior to the events of the original series. It follows the character portrayed by Gibson as he transitions from a student to an avenging serial killer. The series is set to premiere on Paramount+ with Showtime in December.

According to the official synopsis, young Dexter grapples with his bloodthirsty urges and learns to channel his inner darkness. With guidance from his father, Harry, he adopts a Code that helps him identify and eliminate those who deserve to be removed from society, all while avoiding detection by law enforcement. This proves to be particularly challenging for Dexter as he embarks on a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

In “Original Sin,” Slater takes on the role of Dexter’s father, Harry Morgan, while Brown portrays his sister, Debra. Patrick Dempsey joins the cast as Aaron Spencer, the Captain of the Miami Metro Homicide, who has a long-standing relationship with Harry. Gellar plays Dexter’s boss at the station, and the cast also includes new members such as James Martinez, Christina Milian, Alex Shimizu, and Reno Wilson.

As anticipation builds for both “Dexter: Resurrection” and “Dexter: Original Sin,” fans are eager to see how the story of Dexter Morgan continues to unfold. With Michael C. Hall back in the role that made him a household name, the legacy of “Dexter” is set to captivate audiences once again.
