Rapper Travis Scott, known for his hit “Sicko Mode,” was taken into custody in Miami early Thursday morning. The 33-year-old artist, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, faced charges of disorderly intoxication and trespassing.
The incident occurred at the Miami Beach Marina, where Scott was reportedly involved in a verbal altercation on a yacht. According to the Miami Beach Police Department, officers detected a strong smell of alcohol on Scott’s breath when they arrived at the scene.
Police were called to the marina after Scott was seen yelling obscenities at individuals on the yacht. The yacht’s occupants did not wish to press charges but requested that Scott leave the vessel. Initially, Scott complied with the police order to leave the dock. However, he returned shortly after, continuing to cause a disturbance.
Officers then arrested Scott, who was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center around 4:30 a.m. He was released after posting a $650 bond. In a statement, Scott’s legal representative, Bradford Cohen, described the incident as a misunderstanding and emphasized that no physical altercation took place.
Following his release, Scott took to social media, posting a simple “Lol” on X, formerly known as Twitter. He also shared a meme of his mugshot on his Instagram story, adding a humorous touch by making it appear as if he was wearing earbuds.
This arrest comes as Scott prepares to kick off the European leg of his “Circus Maximus Tour” next week, with performances scheduled in the Netherlands on June 28 and June 30. The tour will continue across Europe throughout July and early August, before heading to Brazil for the Rock in Rio music festival in September.
Scott’s recent legal troubles are not his first. In March 2023, he was involved in an altercation at a New York City nightclub, where he allegedly punched a sound engineer and caused significant damage to sound equipment. Although an arrest warrant was issued, Scott reached a settlement with the club, and no further legal action was taken.
Scott’s career has been marked by both success and controversy. He is a Grammy-nominated artist with several Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits, including “Highest in the Room” and “Franchise.” He also has lucrative merchandising deals with brands like Nike and McDonald’s.
Despite the recent incident, Scott’s representatives remain optimistic that the matter will be resolved swiftly. They maintain that the situation was blown out of proportion and likened it to receiving a minor ticket.
Scott shares two children, Stormi and Aire, with his ex-partner Kylie Jenner, a prominent figure in the entertainment and business world. The rapper’s personal and professional life continues to attract significant media attention, making headlines with both his music and his off-stage activities.
As Scott prepares for his upcoming tour, fans and critics alike will be watching closely to see how this latest incident impacts his career. For now, the rapper seems to be taking it in stride, focusing on his music and upcoming performances.
