Richard Gere was the center of attention this Father’s Day, as his wife Alejandra Silva shared a touching tribute to the beloved actor. On Sunday, June 16, Alejandra posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, celebrating Gere, 74, alongside a rare glimpse of their family life. The post featured their sons Alexander, 5, and a younger son, 3, whose name remains private, as well as Albert, 9, Alejandra’s child from a previous relationship.
The Pretty Woman star, known for his private nature, had the faces of his children blurred in the photos. Alejandra, 41, expressed her admiration for Gere in the caption, writing, “Happy Father’s Day, to the most wonderful dad four boys could ever wish for.” She continued, “Your endless patience, love, and dedication are truly remarkable.”
In the first image, Gere is seen carrying one of his sons on his shoulders, with Alejandra and the other boys standing beside him in the sea. Another photo shows Gere standing next to Alejandra and Albert, who proudly holds up a school certificate. The final image captures a joyful moment of Gere hugging one of his children, with a milkshake on the table.
Alejandra’s message continued, “Happy Father’s Day to the man who is always there for us, making every moment special. Love, Mom, James, Alexander, Albert, Homer ♥️♥️ #happyfathersday.” Gere also shares a son, Homer James, 24, with ex-wife Carey Lowell, and is a stepfather to her daughter, Hannah.
The family celebration comes after Gere attended the afterparty of his film Oh, Canada at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in May. Gere, Alejandra, and Homer posed for photos at the Lucia Cannes restaurant, with Gere and Homer in matching tuxedos and Alejandra in a black floral-embroidered gown. Alejandra shared a photo from the event, captioning it, “Proud of him ♥️ #ohcanada #cannesfilmfestival #richardgere.”
In April, Gere opened up about moving his family to Alejandra’s native Spain. He told Vanity Fair Spain, “The truth is we don’t go out much. We have three small children. An 11-year-old, a 5-year-old, and a 4-year-old. So around 9:30 at night, we are all asleep. If we watch something, it will be on the big television we have at home.”
Gere’s appreciation for Spain and its culture was evident as he shared his excitement about the move. “For me, going to Madrid is going to be a great adventure because I have never lived full-time outside of the United States,” he said. “For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends, and her culture. She was very generous in giving me six years living in my world, so I think it’s only fair that I give her at least another six of her living in hers.”
Gere expressed his admiration for Spain, saying, “I love Spain and I think your lifestyle is fabulous. Also, your ability to live transmitting joy and happiness. It is a beautiful place, the food is extraordinary, and the people exude sensitivity and generosity, as well as an iron will to laugh and enjoy. So I’m looking forward to going there.”
Alejandra also shared another photo on her Instagram Stories, showing the family at the beach with a sticker that read “Happy Father’s Day.” The images and messages highlighted the love and appreciation the family has for Gere, making this Father’s Day a memorable one for the actor.
Richard Gere’s dedication to his family and his willingness to embrace new adventures with Alejandra and their children is a testament to his character. As they prepare for their new life in Spain, it’s clear that Gere’s love and commitment to his family remain unwavering.
