Susan Sarandon Reflects on Love at Daughter Eva Amurri’s Wedding Ceremony

Susan Sarandon recently shared a heartfelt reflection on love and partnership following her daughter Eva Amurri’s wedding to chef Ian Hock. The intimate ceremony took place on June 29 in New York, and Sarandon, 77, took to Instagram on July 1 to express her admiration and joy for the newlyweds.

In her post, Sarandon revealed that she learned a great deal about love and partnership from Eva and Ian’s wedding. She praised the couple for their meticulous attention to detail and the way they incorporated family into the ceremony. One particularly touching moment was when Eva’s 7-year-old son, Major James, walked her down the aisle. Eva shares three children with her ex-husband Kyle Martino: Major, Marlowe Mae, 9, and Mateo Antoni, 4.

Sarandon highlighted the couple’s thoughtfulness and intention in every aspect of the ceremony, noting how they included the children in their “love bubble.” She also shared that she heard the couple express what they treasure about each other and their hopes to never take these qualities for granted. According to Sarandon, the couple’s kindness, authenticity, and humor will be the cornerstone of their future together.

“I love you two and all you want & care about,” Sarandon wrote. “Eva, you were so radiant & beautiful. Thank you for inviting me into your lives. Keep dancing and laughing. Xx Mama.”

Eva and Ian’s wedding was inspired by a “French garden party” and took place at Windrift Hall in New York’s Hudson Valley. Sarandon dressed in a custom floral suit to match the theme, while Eva wore a strapless, corseted dress that she described as “ultra feminine without being overly pouffy.”

The ceremony was attended by 40 guests, including Sarandon and her former partner Tim Robbins, along with their three children. Eva and Ian exchanged personal vows, which they described as love letters to each other, making the ceremony feel incredibly personal and intimate. They chose not to have a bridal party, except for the children, which Eva said was perfect.

Eva shared that planning this wedding was easier for her because she had learned so much from her first wedding and knew herself well at this point in her life. She emphasized the importance of centering their little family unit in the ceremony and making it as much about the kids as it was about them. The couple also focused on their second love: food, ensuring that the celebration was a delicious party for their nearest and dearest.

Speaking about her husband, Eva told PEOPLE that she loves how Ian takes care of her and the kids, describing him as the most loving and considerate partner. She appreciates how he supports her, allowing her to step into her feminine energy and be the mom she wants to be. Ian’s involvement in parenting has been a significant relief for Eva, as he often takes parenting tasks off her plate, preventing her from feeling overwhelmed. She also praised him as the “best stepparent ever.”

Eva expressed her admiration for Ian’s relationship with the kids over the past four years, noting how incredible it has been to watch. She also loves laughing and being goofy with him, describing him as her best friend and emphasizing that there’s nothing better than doing life together.
