Zayn Malik has been relishing the joys of fatherhood, especially the delightful curiosity of his 3-year-old daughter, Khai, whom he shares with supermodel Gigi Hadid. In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar India, the 31-year-old singer revealed that Khai has developed a fondness for his music. Whenever a song plays, she eagerly asks, “Is my baba singing?”
Zayn, who became the third member of One Direction to embrace fatherhood after Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne, welcomed Khai in 2020. Despite their relationship ending, Zayn and Gigi have prioritized co-parenting their daughter. Reflecting on his journey as a father, Zayn shared, “It goes by fast! Being a father has only inspired me and made me a better human. My daughter is my whole life and has given me purpose.”
With a rich musical background, Zayn has noticed Khai’s budding interest in music. During an interview on The Zach Sang Show, he mentioned, “She’s not expert-level, but she’s got a bit of rhythm when she’s hitting the drums and stuff. You can tell that she could definitely develop that into something.”
Known for his reserved and enigmatic persona since his days in One Direction, Zayn recently opened up about how fatherhood has boosted his confidence. In an interview with Kelly Clarkson on The Kelly Clarkson Show, he explained, “When you have kids, you have to set an example of being able to step up and be a man or a woman of your word. I didn’t feel true to myself, and I wanted to set a good example for her. With that in the back of my mind, it pushes me to do things that I wouldn’t necessarily have done before. It’s for her, not for me.”
Since departing from the British boy band in 2015, Zayn has focused on his solo career. In May, he released his fourth studio album, “ROOM UNDER THE STAIRS (Z SIDES),” which features 20 songs, including the single “What I Am,” a track that took him six years to complete.
Zayn’s journey as a father and an artist has been intertwined, with Khai playing a significant role in his life and career. Her belief that “every song is his” is a testament to the bond they share and the inspiration she provides him.
