Sharon Osbourne Cancels Appearance Due to Husband Ozzy’s Health Issues

Sharon Osbourne and her husband, legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne, were scheduled to attend the Mad Monster Party in Phoenix, Arizona, in mid-July. However, the couple has had to cancel their appearance due to Ozzy’s ongoing health issues. Sharon, 71, shared the news in a now-deleted Instagram Story, which has since been reposted by several media outlets. She explained that Ozzy is “unable to travel at this time.”

“Regretfully, the Osbourne family has to cancel our upcoming appearance at the Mad Monster Party in Phoenix because Ozzy is unable to travel at this time,” Sharon stated. She added that their son, Jack Osbourne, would still attend the horror and sci-fi-themed convention. “However, Jack will be there flying the flag for the Osbournes.”

Sharon also assured fans that those who purchased the Osbourne package would receive full refunds. “Everybody who bought the Osbourne package will, of course, get full refunds,” she continued. “We would like to thank you all for your constant support with Ozzy. It means so much to him, you have no idea.”

She concluded her message with a heartfelt apology. “All I can do is apologize that we won’t be there, and I’m apologizing to the people we’ve let down from my heart. So, God bless you all. Thank you so much.”

Ozzy Osbourne, 75, has faced numerous health challenges over the years. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2003, he has also undergone several spine surgeries following a fall in 2019. Despite his efforts to recover, Ozzy’s health issues have forced him to cancel tours and withdraw from music festivals. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone UK, the Black Sabbath frontman reflected on his condition, saying, “At best, I’ve got ten years left, and when you’re older, time picks up speed.”

The reality of his own mortality is something Ozzy has come to terms with since his diagnosis. “At the start of my illness, when I stopped touring, I was really pissed off with myself, the doctors, and the world,” he told the outlet. “But as time has gone on, I’ve just gone, ‘Well, maybe I’ve just got to accept that fact.’”

Sharon Osbourne has been a constant source of support for her husband throughout his health struggles. She recently updated her followers on Ozzy’s condition following a major surgery. In a statement posted to her Instagram Story, Sharon expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support they received. “Our family would like to express so much gratitude for the overwhelming amount of love and support leading up to Ozzy’s surgery! Ozzy is doing well and on the road to recovery!” she wrote. “Your love means the world to him.”

During an appearance on The Talk UK, Sharon revealed that Ozzy’s surgery was crucial and would determine the rest of his life. “He has a very major operation on Monday, and I have to be there,” she said. “It’s really going to determine the rest of his life.” She did not provide further details about the nature of the surgery but mentioned that Ozzy was in good spirits, even joking with her about her absence from the show.

Ozzy’s health issues have been a significant challenge for the Osbourne family. In addition to his Parkinson’s diagnosis, he has undergone multiple surgeries and faced chronic pain and mobility issues. In 2018, he had hand surgery at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and in 2019, he suffered a severe upper-respiratory infection. The same year, he experienced a fall that required neck surgery, further complicating his health.

In 2020, Ozzy publicly revealed his Parkinson’s diagnosis, which he had known about since 2003. “It’s not a death sentence… It’s a mild form of Parkinson’s at the moment. I’m not shaking,” he said in an interview with RADIO.COM. “The doctor told me that I probably walk by 10 people a day who have got it and don’t even know they’ve got it. You don’t get a pimple on your forehead; you just start walking a bit funny, I suppose.”

The fall in 2019 and subsequent neck surgery significantly impacted Ozzy’s life. “It’s been terribly challenging for us all,” he said during an appearance on Good Morning America. “I did my last show New Year’s Eve at The Forum. Then I had a bad fall. I had to have surgery on my neck, which screwed all my nerves.”

In April 2022, Ozzy contracted COVID-19, which forced Sharon to miss her hosting duties on The Talk UK. “It’ll take me a week to get my old man back on his feet again, and I will be back [on the show],” she said at the time. “We’re gonna get him a negative test by next week.”

Despite these challenges, the Osbourne family remains resilient. Sharon and Ozzy celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on July 1, although the celebrations were contingent on Ozzy’s health. Sharon has been a pillar of strength for her husband, and their bond has only grown stronger through these difficult times.

As Ozzy continues to battle his health issues, the support from fans and loved ones remains invaluable. Sharon’s decision to cancel their appearance at the Mad Monster Party underscores the importance of prioritizing Ozzy’s well-being. The Osbourne family is grateful for the unwavering support they have received and remains hopeful for better days ahead.
