A disturbing video has surfaced on social media, capturing the moment of an armed attack against Manuel Villicaña Pacheco, also known as ‘Chuy Largo’. He was reportedly a criminal leader who was shot and killed shortly after leaving a prison in Chihuahua, Mexico.
Chuy Largo was identified as a potential head of the Sinaloa Cartel operating within the state of Chihuahua. He had been incarcerated since August 2023 at the Cereso number 1 in Aquiles Serdán, facing charges related to drug offenses and possession of a firearm.
On July 18, Gilberto Loya, the head of the state’s Security Public Department, addressed the media regarding a shooting involving two vehicles at the intersection near the Cereso. Initially, it was reported that one individual had been killed. It was later confirmed that the victim was Villicaña Pacheco, having just been released from prison.
Following these tragic events, surveillance footage emerged showing the attack in real time. The clip features a white truck carrying Chuy Largo, which was intercepted by another vehicle occupied by armed assailants.
During the attack, the white truck veered off the road and began to circle in a dirt area while being pursued. The footage concludes with a cloud of dust as the attackers flee the scene.
Reports indicated that approximately 60 spent shell casings were found at the location, along with two AR-15 rifles, several automatic pistols, and various magazines. Tragically, besides Chuy, two other individuals also lost their lives, one of whom was identified as Javier Guillermo.
There were rumors that among the deceased were municipal police officers, but the Chihuahua Prosecutor’s Office later issued a statement refuting this claim. Their preliminary report confirmed one injury and three fatalities, all due to gunfire. It clarified that the victims included one person just released from the penitentiary and two others who were not affiliated with the municipal police.
The state’s Attorney General, César Jauregui, revealed that the driver of the truck that Chuy Largo was in is an active municipal police officer, who has since been detained for potential involvement in the incident. This officer, identified as Luis Fernando V.R., 23, was arrested on July 18, near the prison in the Laderas de San Guillermo neighborhood.
At the time of his arrest, Luis Fernando was in possession of a radio believed to be used for reporting and communication purposes, which was subsequently seized for investigation. Authorities also confiscated a Durango-type vehicle as part of the inquiry, while the attackers remain unidentified at this stage.
